A Connecticut pastor asked parishioners to stick around after last Sunday’s service so he could confess his past infidelity and seek forgiveness. Moments after his confession, he reportedly fell over and suffered a suspected fatal heart attack.
Judy Stovall, a parishioner who was in attendance on Sunday, told the Connecticut Post that Bishop Bobby Davis wanted to finally come clean. Davis is the pastor and founder of the Miracle Faith World Outreach Church in Bridgeport, Conn.
“We were shouting, ‘We forgive you, we love you,’ but the stress of all of it — he had a heart attack,” Stovall recalled. “I held his head as he lay on the floor … Our congregation is hurting now.”
The pastor reportedly got a mixed response from the crowd. Stovall admitted the yelling from congregants got pretty loud.
“A woman, who wouldn’t give her name, said she had been outside the church at the time and heard yelling coming from inside, but didn’t know what was being said,” the report adds.
Davis was pronounced dead at the Bridgeport Hospital. Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding incident.
The Christian Post, citing an unidentified church member, reports Davis first confessed to his wife of 50 years. She then reportedly urged her husband to come clean before his flock.
