It might be impossible to measure or quantify the strength of a friendship — but what a group of women did for a friend who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer shows how powerful it can be.

According to a video uploaded by photographer Albert Bredenhann, Gerdi McKenna was diagnosed with breast cancer late last year.

Her friends wanted to show solidarity with her and in February emailed Bredenhann requesting a photoshoot. Except, this would be no ordinary photoshoot.

Instead, it documents the moments that McKenna’s friends shaved their heads in solidarity with her.

“I learned one thing this morning and that is that hair is but a small part of you,” one woman said after shaving her head.

“My heart is full and I am doing it for my sister, she is one amazing person … that is the least I can do,” another said.

“…the least I can do.”

After the women have shaved their heads, the video — set to the tune of “I Would Do Anything For Love” — shows the group of loyal friends surprising McKenna with their new makeovers.

“You girls look awesome!” she exclaimed.

Finally, all united, the group of friends completed the photoshoot together.

Since the video of the photoshoot was uploaded one week ago, it has achieved over 5 million views on Vimeo.
