It’s no secret that Korn guitarist Brian Welch quit the metal band in 2005 after converting to Christianity and later rejoined the ensemble, but did you know that bassist Reggie Quincy ”Fieldy” Arvizu is also a believer?
And according to a picture posted to Welch’s Instagram account Friday, Arvizu is so devout that the rocker recently had a large crucifix tattooed on his face.
Welch uploaded the image of his bandmate and his new ink, writing, “My boy Fieldy’s new face tattoo…REPRESENTING.”
The post attracted thousands of “likes” over the weekend.
A number of pictures recently posted on Arvizu’s Facebook account also appear to show the tattoo on his left cheek — a very public display of his Christian faith.
Though he still plays with Korn, Arvizu has been open about his theological views, sharing the turbulent journey he went through before his conversion. He described these themes in detail in his 2010 book, “Got the Life: My Journey of Addiction, Faith, Recovery and Korn.”
“In 2005 my dad passed away and a few days after his funeral, my stepmom asked if I wanted to accept Jesus Christ into my heart,” Arvizu told the Orange County Register last year. “I was so lost in the dark and after my dad died, I started questioning life and the things I was doing.”
He added, “I open heartedly asked Jesus into my life, not really knowing what that was, but did it knowing that there had to be something better in this life and I wanted it. Bottom line is: God was ready for me.”
