Glenn Beck’s charity, Mercury One, has stepped up to help the small town of Oso, Wash. in the wake of the deadly mudslide that has devastated the area.

The town’s one church, led by Pastor Gary Ray, has served as the “information hub” and center of disaster relief efforts for the community, and nearly every volunteer that comes to town goes through the house of worship.

Mercury One raised $5,000 for the community, and immediately donated it to the Oso Chapel, where it is being spent on food, clothing, and anything else the community needs to get through the disaster.

“The town and surrounding rural area is extremely economically depressed, and the mudslide has only made things more arduous for families,” Natasha Crumbliss of Mercury One told TheBlaze. “The Oso area has seen better days when logging companies were involved in the area, but those days are past.”

Mercury One is continuing to raise money to serve the Oso community, and to help others who find themselves in need after a disaster.

In the wake of Superstorm Sandy, Mercury One was one of the first to reach the Coney Island community to offer help. When tornadoes devastated Oklahoma back in May, more than $1 million was raised for the relief effort. And when dozens of tornadoes tore through the Midwest back in November, Mercury One flew into action.

“If we want government to do less, we need to do more,” the charity’s Facebook page says.
