The 'Living Man' Was Back In Court This Week — You Can Probably Guess How That Went
March 29, 2014
"I cannot and I will not!"
The Montana man who rose to fame for his continual "natural law" outbursts during court proceedings in November found himself before a judge again this week in a continued legal saga stemming from charges related to fishing without a license.
Ernie Tertelgte, 52, — known widely as the "living man" — entered court Monday waving a white "truce" flag.

According to KTVM, the judge immediately asked him to put it down.
"You can come back in without the flag, Mr. Tertelgte," he said.
"I cannot and I will not," Tertelgte reportedly replied.
KBZK reported that after the judge gave Tertelgte one final chance to lower his flag, the "living man" bound only by "universal law" cooperated.
He reportedly approached the podium and asked the judge to recuse himself from the case. Two trial dates were set, one in April and the other in May, for charges stemming from fishing without a license, KBZK reported.

After the trial, Tertelgte spoke to KTVM, accusing the court system of profiting off the American people.
"This place is doing the same thing," he said. "Profiteering to the tune of $10,000 per day."
In November, Tertelgte became a viral sensation when videos of him arguing with a judge surfaced on the Internet.
“You are trying to create a fictitious, fraudulent action,” he had told the judge then. “I am the living man, protected by natural law.”
He then yelled, “Do not tell me to shut up! I am the living, natural man, and my voice will be heard!”
