Check your calendar. It’s April 1. That means it’s April Fools’ Day. And while you likely have someone in mind who’s going to try and prank you, many of us will likely get tripped up by someone we’re not expecting to pull the wool over our eyes.
Enter Texas Senator Ted Cruz.
At the end of a segment on “Fox and Friends” Tuesday morning, the hosts asked about a “rumor” that he had gotten a tattoo (especially after some Photoshopped posters appeared recently showing him all inked up). That’s when the senator rolled up his right sleeve and revealed a shiny image of Winston Churchill:
“I’m very proud to say– I’m proud to stand with Winston Churchill…and I got to say, my wife was fairly astonished,” he said, chuckling after.
“Wait a minute, you have a tattoo of Winston Churchill!” host Steve Doocey exclaimed (although it’s unclear if he was in on it).
“Wait a second, is that henna or is that real?” co-host Brian Kilmeade asked.
“Look, I will note that if you look at the calendar it might suggest something about what you’re seeing, but I will leave that to others to figure out,” Cruz responded.
“The joke’s on us,” Elizabeth Hasselbeck concluded.
