A news station in west Michigan was tipped to look into an unusual cleaning business, and when they learned the name of the business owner — Sexual Sin Blue — they just couldn’t pass up an investigation. They soon found out that there was more than a strange house-cleaning business and the bizarre name involved — police were hot on the case, too.
Sexual Sin Blue — a man — runs an “exotic” nude house-cleaning business, and he’s looking to hire, according to NBC Grand Rapids affiliate WOOD-TV, which found Craigslist ads in the area that appear to have since been removed.
But police say Blue — born Reginald Jones — needs to visit the zoning office before he continues this business.
“The type of business we’re talking about got our attention. We said, ‘Wait a minute: Has this gentleman talked to anybody? Because this is probably not going to fly.’ He’s going to want to run it through first. Don’t want to waste a bunch of money try to start a business here that’s going to be shut down,” Grand Rapids Police Department Lt. Pat Merrill told the station.
Where Blue’s business practices become even stickier is in the application process. The news station said it sent in someone undercover to apply; not did Blue neglect to inform the applicant about the nude portion of the business, he also asked for $25 to run a background check.
“If someone asked me to pay them $25 to do a background check on me, and I was applying for a job with them, I would turn around and walk out the door,” Phil Catlett, president of the West Michigan Better Business Bureau, told the station, saying it was suspicious behavior.
According to the news station, Blue has been cited for bad checks, fraud, larceny and prostitution charges, among other crimes. Police said his office space landlord is trying to evict him for not paying rent as well.
