A member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers reacted Saturday to a report that alleged his band’s music was used by the CIA to interrogate a detainee, saying he does not approve the government using their music for such purposes.

“No, of course not,” drummer Chad Smith told TMZin a Malibu parking lot. “Our music is positive man. It’s supposed to make people feel good.”

An interrogator briefed on detainee Abu Zubaydah’s interrogations told Al Jazeera America in a report published this week that the CIA played music by the Red Hot Chili Peppers in their efforts to extract information from him.
