In less than two weeks, a video featuring Southwest Airlines flight attendant Marty Cobb’s hilarious rendition of the pre-flight safety speech has racked up more than 11 million hits on YouTube.
When Cobb posted the original clip on YouTube on April 12, she also mentioned that she hoped to meet Ellen and Jimmy Fallon.” On Tuesday, the first part of that wish came true.
Cobb and her two daughters were in Los Angeles this week to appear on “Ellen.” During the visit, Ellen brought out a piece of branded luggage for the flight attendant. The Emmy-winner hoped the luggage — with Ellen’s face on it — would be seen all around the country and help promote the show.
As you might expect, the carry-on bag was stuffed with a treasure trove of Ellen products, including Ellen underwear.
However, also among the show swag, Ellen’s sponsors tossed in some very valuable gifts. Visa sent a $1000 gift card, JC Penny added a $2000 shopping spree, $3000 in Target cash, $4000 to spend at Radio Shack.
But the suitcase packed with $10,000 in goodies and gift cards was just the start.
After the commercial break, Ellen brought Cobb’s daughters on the set and had the girls talk about their “amazing” mom. The single mother who has raised three kids on her own (her son was not able to come to the show because of a test in his college class back in Texas) was also about to receive one more surprise courtesy of Ellen’s sponsor, Shutterfly. The online photo company gave Marty Cobb a check for $10,000. The Cobb family was visibly overwhelmed by the gift.
TheBlaze has also reached out to NBC and Jimmy Fallon’s staff to see if they have plans to bring Cobb on the show and complete her “wish list.” We will update the story when we have additional information.
