Movie star and former MSNBC host Alec Baldwin was placed in handcuffs Tuesday morning after he reportedly became belligerent with New York City police officers when they tried to issue him a summons for going the wrong way on his bike.

Baldwin reportedly had no ID on him, further complicating the issue. If a law enforcement official in New York City attempts to issue a summons to a person who has no ID, that person is then required to accompany the law enforcement official to a police station.
When the police officer tried to issue Baldwin a summons for riding the wrong way, the actor reportedly grew irate and belligerent.
When he was unable to produce an ID, “he got belligerent and started to argue with the officers,” an NYPD spokeswoman said.
Baldwin was then placed in handcuffs.
“He has been issued a summons for riding the wrong way and a second summons for disorderly conduct.

“He was stopped by officers for riding the wrong way on a street. When the officers asked for ID, he got belligerent because he had none on him,” In Touch Weekly reported. “The officers placed him under arrest for disorderly conduct.”
A representative for Baldwin denied that the actor was actually arrested.
“He was not arrested or charged with a crime,” the representative told In Touch.
Baldwin, who has since been released, took to Twitter after the incident to air his grievances with the NYPD.
“Officer Moreno, badge number 23388, arrested me and handcuffed me for going the wrong way on Fifth Ave,” the actor said in a tweet. “Meanwhile, photographers outside my home ONCE AGAIN terrified my daughter and nearly hit her with a camera. The police did nothing.”
“New York City is a mismanaged carnival of stupidity that is desperate for revenue and anxious to criminalize behavior once thought benign,” he added.
Baldwin’s court date has been set for July 24.
A spokesperson for the actor did not immediately respond to TheBlaze’s request for comment.
