New Video From Al Qaeda Affiliate Urges Young Muslims Living in the West: ‘A Lone Wolf Mission, You Know the Rest’

An Al Qaeda-affiliated group in Somalia released a new propaganda video Tuesday featuring masked jihadi extremists asking young Muslims living in the West to become “lone wolf” suicide bombers and kill in the name of Allah.

The message, delivered in English by Al-Shabab Al-Mujahideen and posted on jihadi websites, urges Muslims to choose from three options to fight against the West, according to the video obtained by the Middle East Media Research Institute.

A video released Tuesday features a masked jihadi fighters delivering a message in English. In the video a masked man speaks to Muslims living in the West. He asks them to choose from three options: to "take your Istishhadi [i.e. suicide] vest" on a lone-wolf mission; to leave everything behind and make hijra to join Al-Shabab's ranks; or to stay in the West and be "deceived by the devil," while living amongst "them" (i.e. non-Muslims).

“This is a message to the youth in the West,” a masked man says in the video, titled “Mujahideen Moments.” “A caring brother send[s] you a friend request. Allah is full of struggle, complete the test. So choose the following options, which is the best: You put your trust in Allah and take your Istishhadi [suicide] vest. A lone wolf mission, you know the rest. Second option: You leave it all. Your whole dunya [world], and your backpack. What you need more? Hijra and jihad is the smart call, just like the brothers in Westgate mall  . Last option: deceived by the Devil, you live amongst them, same job, same school. You befriend them. Judgment Day is near. What you’ve prepared then? Wake up from the dream and revive the deen again.”

Sixty-seven people were killed in the 2013 Al-Shabaab assault on the Westgate shopping mall in Kenya.
