It Might Just Look Like a Puddle of Mud, But Cops Noticed Something That Had Them Jumping in Immediately

It might have just looked like a giant puddle of mud to most passers-by, but when two officers in Pennsylvania looked further, they noticed something else: a dog stuck and struggling to survive.

Willistown Township police sergeant Mike Martin and patrol officer Mike Kushner responded to a call for assistance last Friday where they found a dog buried to its neck in mud.

“Kushner immediately jumped into the mud to save thirteen year-old Pluto, who was in dire condition,” a post on the town’s Facebook page said.

The harrowing rescue was capture on video and posted online.

The dog had been missing for three days.

“We just knew we had to get the dog out of there. It was in distress. It wasn’t really moving a whole lot,” Mike Kushner told KYW-TV.

“It just followed us with its eyes, so it was exhausted,” Martin echoed.

After Pluto was removed from the mud, he was taken to a local veterinary hospital. He is now at home and recovering, according to his owner.

“We feel very fortunate indeed that you are there and always quick to respond,” the homeowner who summoned police said.
