All complied in the robbery initially, but the owner and clerk didn’t let it end without a fight.

The Sunoco’s owner, who was not named by WKMG-TV, said he equips all his clerks with handguns. So, while the robbers took off from the store, the owner and the clerk followed, pulling out their own weapons.

The clerk fired close to a dozen shots at the getaway car, breaking the glass of a nearby parked car, but the robbers continued onward. Police are unsure if the car or suspects inside were hit.

Daytona Beach police spokesman Jimmie Flynt told the news station the clerk could face charges for firing the gun in public.

“I got three guns pointed at me and one shotgun at my chest — it’s scary, ” the owner told WKMG of the incident. “I was really very mad, you know because I work hard. I’ve been working since 9:00 in the morning and 2:30 in the morning next day, I’m here and somebody like this comes in and robs me. I’m not going to accept it.”

Those in the store at the time of the robbery were not injured.

In total, the robbers made off with about $500 and a cellphone, according to WESH-TV.

As of Friday afternoon, the suspects were still at large.
