Oakland A’s left fielder Yoenis Cespedes is fast becoming a star in Major League Baseball. On Tuesday night, he proved why.
With one out in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Angels’ Mike Trout ripped a line drive to left field. Cespedes went to play the ball, but bobbled it, causing the ball to kick to the wall. That gave Howie Kendrick and his third base coach an idea: turn for home.
Cespedes eventually gained control of the ball and threw a flawless bullet home to catcher Derek Norris, who barely had to move before tagging Kendrick.
It was an awesome play:
According to Deadspin, Angels manager Mike Scioscia challenged the play but it was upheld.
