Conservative author and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza appeared on “The Kelly File” Monday night, delivering an analogy that caused host Megyn Kelly to laugh aloud and wonder whether the conversation had “jumped off the deep end.”

D’Souza, who was promoting his new book “America: Imagine a World Without Her” and his upcoming documentary “America,” told Kelly that he believes Obama emerged from a generation that believes “America is globally a force for evil.”

“If you think that America is a global bully, you will try to shrink America’s power in the Middle East and around the world,” he continued. “He’s trying to achieve the objective of shrinking America’s power in the world.”

Kelly, though, said it sounded as though D’Souza was accusing Obama of being “almost anti-American” and questioned why Obama would want to be president of the country if he didn’t love the U.S. — and that’s when D’Souza offered up the analogy that caused Kelly to laugh aloud.

“If I was in a family and I believed my dad was some kind of a serial killer or a child molester, I would still love him,” the filmmaker explained. “He would still be part of my family, but I’d do everything I could to prevent him from doing evil actions.”

D’Souza continued, “I would think that that would be good for the world but good for my dad. So with Obama, he believes he’s doing the world a favor and America a favor by controlling this rogue elephant that is the United States.”

Kelly responded with laughter and said she was simply trying to follow along.

“So, America’s the child molester in this scenario? I’m just trying to follow Dinesh,” the said. “I think we may have jumped off the deep end.”
