Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh apparently predicted on January 9, 2014, that the Obama administration would go after the Washington Redskins through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. This week, that prediction came to fruition and the NFL organization was stripped of its trademark registrations, pending an appeal.
The “Quick Hits” page on RushLimbaugh.com appears to prove that Limbaugh really did see the Redskins fiasco coming.
“The way the feds are gonna get the Redskins is the federal trademark office, and I was gonna spend some time on that today, and there’s one other thing,” Limbaugh reportedly said back in January. “We talked about that. Well, I gotta take a break here. But it just leaves a whole bunch of great stuff for tomorrow.”
On Wednesday, Limbaugh reminded his viewers of his prediction, saying “I just want you to know and I want it on the record that we predicted this very thing back on January 9th, 2014.”
The radio host also claimed that President Barack Obama is behind the decision to target the Redskins with the Patent Office.
“This is not the Patent and Trademark Office, this is Barack Obama. One of the things in reporting out of Washington that has happened during this administration, this is the executive branch, all of this stuff is coming out of the executive branch, all of this, well, tyranny, it’s all coming from the executive branch, and Obama owns the executive branch. He is the executive branch,” Limbaugh added.
It has been brought to our attention that this is not the first time the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has denied the Washington Redskins its trademarks ”because it is disparaging to Native Americans.”
