A man allegedly found a deceased rodent in a salad wrap he purchased at a New York City Chop’t location Tuesday.

Images of the wrap quickly spread on social media, after Forest Hills resident Steven Henderson tweeted out a photo.
“My colleague ordered a wrap and got a rat,” he wrote.
A second tweet was sent by another individual and addressed to media outlets, advising reporters to “look what my college found” in his sandwich.
Both tweets were later deleted.
It was not immediately clear how the rodent allegedly made its way into the patron’s salad wrap. It was also unclear if the order was delivered to the individual or prepared in front of him.
A spokesperson for Chop’t told TheBlaze Tuesday afternoon that the salad-making company was “looking into” the allegations. According to the Gothamist, founder Tony Shure said the location in question — located in Manhattan’s Financial District — had been shut down as employees do a “deep clean.”
The restaurant has an A rating from the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. It’s most recent inspection was September of last year.

Friends of Chop’t,
We learned today that a guest reported finding a rodent in one of our sandwiches delivered from our Pine Street location in NYC. Nothing can describe what goes through the minds and hearts of all of us at Chop’t in a moment like this. Our vigilance for delicious and safe food has never wavered since we first opened our doors back in 2001.
All of our restaurants are routinely inspected by the Department of Health in addition to our regular internal inspections. Our most recent Health Department inspection at Pine Street received an A rating. We also engage an independent restaurant sanitation audit company to ensure the quality and cleanliness of every Chop’t.
Although none of the inspections at this location indicated any problems, we immediately took action. Those actions included closing the location temporarily in an abundance of caution in order to conduct a thorough inspection of the entire facility. Also, we have requested an inspection by the NYC Department of Health tomorrow morning in preparation for our reopening.
