Surveillance video captured a terrifying incident in which a mechanic was held at gunpoint at an auto shop Saturday afternoon and then forced into a Porsche and ordered to drive his captor to an ATM.

Unfortunately for the crook, he picked the wrong getaway car — and the wrong stick-up victim.

Before being forced into the Porsche, video shows the suspect, wearing a red jersey, slowly walking through the parking lot toward the reception area at the Midlothian Motor Company in Richmond, Virginia.

He then confronted the lone mechanic in the garage.

“[The suspect] pulled the gun from underneath his shirt and told the mechanic to come and get the cash register open for him,” owner Al Hosn told WWBT-TV in Richmond, Virginia.

The suspect then ushered the mechanic into the office with his hands up, demanding he empty the register and hand over his wallet — but the mechanic only had a debit card.

Undeterred, the crook probably figured the next best thing was an ATM, so he demanded that the mechanic drive him to a machine.

With a bevy of vehicles to choose from, the high-rolling perp picked the company’s Porsche and got the mechanic behind the wheel, the gun still pointing at the man’s face.

But the quick-thinking mechanic launched a counter-offensive.

He pretended he couldn’t handle the Porsche’s manual transmission. So he duly jerked the clutch, sending the sports car into that painfully familiar stick shift-novice stutter, then went into action.

Hosn told WWBT that his mechanic pushed the crook’s gun away from his face and started “beating” his abductor “with his left hand.”

Although the crook bit his arm, the mechanic managed to get away from the Porsche. The suspect hoofed it out also, but video appears to depict him hobbling from the parking lot.

TheBlaze reached out to police on Wednesday for an update on the suspect’s status, particularly if he got away with the gun, but the message wasn’t immediately returned.

The mechanic was in the hospital with serious bite wounds to his arm.
