Just Guess What This City Attorney Is Apologizing for Bringing to Work

Marijuana may now be legal in Washington State, but that doesn’t mean bringing weed to the office is a good idea.

Seattle City Attorney Pete Holmes issued an apology Friday after he very publicly purchased marijuana — and then brought it to work.

“I intended my public purchase at Seattle’s first legal store to bolster the transition [from an illegal to legal marijuana market],” Holmes said in a statement. “When I brought the unopened marijuana to City offices – trying to keep up with a busy schedule — I nonetheless violated the City’s rules.”

He volunteered his own punishment of sorts.

“I have discussed the violation with the city personnel department director, and I have volunteered to donate $3,000 to the Downtown Emergency Service Center,” Holmes said. “I apologize to my employees, all city employees and to the public.”
