Some opponents of Israel are adding a disturbing hashtag to their tweets that leaves no room as to their opinion of Jews: #HitlerWasRight.
The offensive hashtag is attracting all sorts of comments regarding the current round of fighting between Israel and Palestinian terror groups, including Hamas, that have launched more than 800 rockets at Israeli communities in just five days.
Many of those posting tweets, including those using the Arabic hashtag for Hitler, included the theme that Hitler spared some Jews “to let you know why I was killing them.” One Twitter user included a request to “Pray for Gaza” while at the same time wishing Hitler had “killed all Israelis.” Of course, the State of Israel was not founded until 1948, after the Holocaust, World War II and Hitler’s death.
Anti-Israel activists often insist they are not anti-Semitic. This tweet might question that claim:
As would be expected, the hashtag is now drawing a tremendous backlash, including this tweet from CNN anchor Jake Tapper:

Among the additions to the trending topic were also notes of criticism from supporters of the Palestinians:
