Popstar Rihanna apparently tweeted, then deleted, “#FreePalestine” Tuesday morning in the midst of Israel’s latest confrontation with Hamas.

The tweet was live for eight minutes before it was removed, though not before it garnered more than 6,800 retweets.

A “source close to” Rihanna told TMZ that the singer “deleted it because it was never meant to be tweeted,” and “she didn’t even realize it was a tweet until she started hearing from her fans.”

The TMZ source said Rihanna is neither pro-Palestinian or Pro-Israel, only “pro-peace” and that “she doesn’t want innocent people dying.”

NBA star Dwight Howard tweeted the same message over the weekend, before deleting it as well and calling it a “mistake.”

Hamas rejected a cease-fire agreement on Tuesday, sending more rockets from Gaza into Israel. Israel vowed Hamas would “pay the price” for its actions.
