Actor David Boreanaz, known for starring roles in popular TV shows like “Bones,” “Angel” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” embraced an entirely different role Wednesday: political commentator.

Boreanaz took to Twitter to harshly criticize President Barack Obama’s handling of the ongoing situation between Russia and Ukraine, noting that “sanctions aren’t going to cut it.”

“So here we are in a Cold War now with Russia,” Boreanaz tweeted. “Sanctions aren’t going to cut it. Putin is Nuts and a serious threat to the USA. Grow some Obama [sic].”

The actor proceeded to retweet and share additional messages from Twitter users who agreed with his assessment. He even retweeted a proclamation from controversial rocker Ted Nugent that read, “How pathetically gullible people can be to eatup lies.”

Here are some of those retweets:

Boreanaz later shared additional perspective about the importance of Americans being united and encouraged those frustrated with his views to “lighten up.”

“Sad part is we are all so divided when we shl be United as a country. #ExtremeThoughts and #Anger on Both sides in America,” the actor wrote. “I don’t know what’s better being attacked by a Liberal with #20,000Tweets or the #CastleFandom. #LightenUpPeople”

On Thursday, Boreanaz posted yet another tweet about the media, writing, “Anger fuels America, Media glorifies it and we are all left with death at the end of our journey. Love n Laughter people.”
