Miami Marlins pitcher Dan Jennings took a line drive to the head Thursday night and for a moment, he seemed fine. Soon it was very clear he wasn’t.
In the seventh inning, Jennings tossed one to the Pittsburgh Pirates Jordy Mercer who cracked the ball right back to the mound, hitting the pitcher in the temple. Immediately Jennings went down, but he quickly came to his feet after spinning on the ground for a moment.
Once up on the mound though, he stopped, put his hands on his legs and just stared.
The ball was going about 101 mph when it hit Jennings, according to Forbes.

Marlins manager Mike Redmond said Jennings’ eyes were open and he was responding to questions from the medical staff while on the mound.
Jennings was hospitalized after the incident and was diagnosed with a concussion. He was kept overnight for observation, even though a CT scan of his brain came back negative.
Jennings later posted on Twitter, “God was definitely watching over me tonight.”
