Glenn Beck revealed exciting plans for the future of his company during an “ask me anything” special that aired Wednesday.
“We are going to be doing some shows in the next 18 months that I think you will really, really, really enjoy,” he told the audience. “I think we’re going to give Disney a run for their money at some point, because the things that we are doing are going to be really deeply rooted in values, without being preachy or anything else. And they are also rooted in history.”
Beck said his company is working on a series about Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison that he believes will be one of the best shows on television.
“[It is] very surprising, very different, not what you would expect, certainly from us, and not what the rest of the world will give you,” he added.
Beck said he also hopes to create a short film about Jesus on Orson Welles’ camera, which he recently purchased.
Beck explained that after Welles finished Citizen Kane, he said he was going to tell the story of Jesus.
“It gave me an idea,” Beck said. “As an ode to him, we’re going to shoot a short, probably six or eight minute film on Jesus that is very different, that I think you will really, really like. And we’re going to film it on Orson Welles’ personal camera.”
Beck also revealed that his clothing company, 1791, will start selling women’s jeans this year.
“Women, you are out of your mind nuts,” Beck said jokingly. “Trying to make jeans for guys — we make two different kinds and every guy is like, ‘I like ’em. Good.’ Women, oh my gosh. Every woman would try them on and be like, ‘Well, I don’t really like this, and I think it should be a little more like this…’ Impossible. But we’ve tried, and I think we’ve got a consensus.”
“We might go bankrupt on these, but they come out, I think this fall,” Beck said.
One woman in the audience asked Beck: “When Mercury One responds to disasters, you hit the road pretty quickly. Is there ever going to be a time when, as a volunteer responder, we could join you and get our hands dirty?”
“I think trouble is coming,” Beck responded, pausing before he continued. “Because of that, we have in the last sixty days been trying to figure out the best systems that would allow us to put things in place quickly, and move quickly. We have just hired somebody who is actually, he commands one of the, a critical Air Force base in the United States. And we just convinced him to retire.”
Beck said that man is going to oversee Mercury One’s volunteer and rapid response teams.
“I think that we have to have people serve, serve one another, and we have to be there as quickly as possible,” Beck remarked. “And it won’t be my staff, per se, that goes out and does it. We will bring the supplies, and you bring the hands.”
