A Detroit robbery suspect was caught on surveillance video early Monday morning shooting his victim and then fatally slamming the man’s 9-week old puppy to the ground.
“What happened to this puppy was just senseless and terrible,” Debby MacDonald, Michigan Humane Society’s cruelty investigator, said. “I think there’s no words for it.”
The man was captured on camera looking for a victim before he confronted Sean Harris at Onasis Coney Island and demanded the man’s cash and car keys, WXYZ-TV reported.
Harris turned over his cash, but refused to give the suspect his keys. He was swiftly shot by the man in the leg.
The robbery suspect then walked to Harris’ car, picked up his dog and violently slammed the 9-week-old shih-tzu to the pavement. The dog later succumbed to its injures and died.
The Humane Society is now offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest, according to WXYZ.
“I think as an animal lover, it breaks your heart,” said MacDonald. “But as a human being, to have somebody that violent in our society, it’s dangerous. It really needs to be addressed, that’s a dangerous individual.”
