More Democrats view global climate change as a “major threat” to the United States than the Islamic State, according to a new Pew Research Center survey.
Sixty-eight percent of Democrats described global climate change as a “major threat” to the United States, but only 65 percent said the same about the Islamic State.
Similarly, only 67 percent of Democrats said they believe Islamic extremist groups like Al Qaeda are a major threat.
The numbers sharply contrast with Republicans surveyed, only 25 percent of whom identified global climate change as a “major threat” to the United States, and 78 percent of whom identified the Islamic State as a major threat. Eighty percent of Republicans described groups like Al Qaeda as a major threat.
The survey of 1,501 adults was conducted from Aug. 20 to 24.
