It all started because the groom couldn’t keep his hands to himself.
Aboard a riverboat cruise through Pittsburgh on Sunday evening, Mark Williams was in the middle of celebrating his marriage to one woman when he allegedly starting groping another, WTAE-TV reported.
There were some major reasons Williams shouldn’t have tried to touch — or pour alcohol down the throat of — the other woman, including the facts that:
- The other woman, a server on the boat, had a boyfriend;
- The other woman was pregnant.
Undeterred by any of this, the inebriated 33-year-old groom allegedly tried to force himself and alcohol on the 19-year-old server, WTAE reported.
“The groom was so drunk,” the server said. “He came over and started rubbing my head and put his hand on my body, just touchy-feely.”
When the boat returned to shore, the server told her boyfriend what had happened, and the boyfriend, defending her honor, went to talk to Williams.
They quickly began fighting, and that’s when things somehow got even more bizarre.
A Pennsylvania state trooper — Williams’ brother — jumped into the fight, KDKA-TV reported, and then another wedding guest smashed a car window with his fist as he either tried to join the melee or tried to break it up.
When police arrived on scene and started arresting people, that other wedding guest, 31-year-old Brian Taylor, yelled that he was HIV-positive as police pushed his blood-covered body into a squad car, KDKA reported.
KDKA noted that Taylor is apparently a member of the Stowe Rocks School Board.
The Williams brothers and Taylor were arrested and face various assault and resisting arrest charges, KDKA reported, and they have since been released from jail.
How did the bride hold up through the whole thing?
“She was very understanding. She didn’t at all argue with anybody,” the server told WTAE. “She was probably shocked and in tears that this happened on her day.”
The bride did not look terribly pleased as she picked her husband up from jail on Monday.
