‘Almost Bumped a Jewish Kid’: Jon Stewart’s ‘Daily Show’ Replacement Ignites Furor Over Past Tweets About ‘Jewish Chicks’, Israel and ‘Fat Chicks’

Trevor Noah, the newly announced replacement for “Daily Show” host Jon Stewart, came under fire just hours after Comedy Central reveled that he’ll be taking the helm, as critics claim that some of his past tweets are anti-Semitic and sexist.

Noah, 31, who grew up in South Africa and is a quarter Jewish, reportedly sent a number of messages over the past few years that featured quips and comments about Jewish people, Israel and women, according to the Daily Mail.

“Behind every successful Rap Billionaire is a double as rich Jewish man. #BeatsByDreidel,” Noah wrote in May 2014.

And in January 2012, while apparently watching a soccer match, he wrote, “Messi gets the ball and the real players try foul him, but Messi doesn’t go down easy, just like jewish chicks. #ElClasico,” according to the Daily Mail.

Noah also reportedly took aim at Israel as well as his native South Africa in a 2010 tweet, writing, “South Africans know how to recycle like Israel knows how to be peaceful.”

And that’s not all:

According to Time, some critics also slammed Noah for being sexist in some of his past tweets about women.

“A hot white woman with a** is like a unicorn. Even if you do see one, you’ll probably never get to ride it,” he wrote in 2011.

In another tweet he added, “‘Oh yeah the weekend. People are gonna get drunk & think that I’m sexy!’ – fat chicks everywhere.”

Comedy Central hasn’t responded to the controversy, though attention to Noah’s past tweets is gaining momentum.

While some critics are outraged, others note that Noah is a comedian and, thus, prone to offensive joke-making.
