After actress Lindsay Lohan finished serving her first day of community service at Duffield Children’s Center in Brooklyn, New York, on Wednesday, she was seen carrying something that has some observers wondering if she’s considering a turn to the Islamic faith.
Lohan, who must complete 125 hours of community service by the end of the month following a 2012 incident in which she lied to authorities and admitted reckless driving, was photographed holding a copy of the Koran, the Muslim holy book.
It’s unclear why Lohan was carrying a copy of the book, though it wouldn’t be the first time that the actress — who was raised Catholic — has dabbled in faith.

She once wore a Kabbalah bracelet, reportedly took part in a Buddhist chanting group and has described herself in recent times as a “very spiritual person,” the Daily Mail reported.
But a representative for Lohan told the Independent that the actress isn’t considering a conversion to the Muslim faith, though she is working on some projects in the Middle East and has a deep interest in learning the language.
“To my knowledge she is not considering fully converting to Islam, but I know she has been taking a keen interest in the Arabic culture of late,” the spokesperson said. “She also spent some time in Dubai earlier this year and became interested in their way of life.”

Speculation surrounding why Lohan was carrying a copy of the Koran comes after an April mishap in which she posted an Instagram picture that included Arabic text.
It featured a line that read, “You’re beautiful” in English, but the Arabic translation accompanying it actually read, “You’re a donkey,” leading the actress to eventually delete it.
