Ted Cruz Not Happy With Question From Megyn Kelly, Says It’s What ‘Liberal Journalist’ Would Ask

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz was seemingly unhappy with a question on immigration Tuesday night from Fox News host Megyn Kelly, telling her it was something he’d expect to be asked from a “liberal journalist.”

Kelly asked the Texas senator the same question Donald Trump faced on the cable-news network Monday.

“If you have a husband and a wife who are illegal immigrants, and they had two children here who are American citizens — would you deport all of them? Would you deport the American citizen children?” she asked.

Cruz replied that politicians should first tackle immigration by focusing on issues of bipartisan agreement, including stopping illegal immigration and “improve and streamline” legal immigration.

“But that doesn’t sound like an answer,” an unsatisfied Kelly said.

“Well, what I’m doing Megyn is answering what I think Congress should do,” Cruz quipped back, again listing steps he thinks Congress should take on immigration.

“Listen, senator, I understand all that. And you’ve outlined your plan. But unlike you, you’re dodging my question. You don’t want to answer that question? He says he would. Donald Trump says they are all gone under his policy. What would a president Cruz do?” she asked.

Cruz was not seemingly happy to continue being pressed over the particular question.

“Megyn, I get that that’s the question you want to ask. That’s also the question every mainstream media liberal journalist wants to ask,” he said. “They focus exclusively on 12 million people.”

“Is it an unfair question?” Kelly asked.

“It is a distraction from how we actually solve the problem. You know, it’s also the question [President] Barack Obama wants to focus on,” Cruz quipped back.

“But why is it so hard? Why don’t you just say yes or no?” Kelly pressed.

Cruz responded by saying that he would welcome the conversation and debate after the border is secured and Obama’s executive order is overturned.

The questioning from Kelly comes as she remains under fire from Trump and his supporters over what they perceive as a bias on her coverage of his campaign.
