‘Our Nation Is in Trouble’: Franklin Graham Warns That ‘We’ve Turned Our Back on God’ — but He Has a Bold Plan to Fight Back

Franklin Graham, president and CEO of Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, believes that America is “in trouble,” so he’s embarking on a bold, nationwide tour to encourage the masses to appeal to God in an effort to alter the nation’s cultural trajectory.

Graham announced in a Facebook post on Wednesday that he will launch his “Decision America Tour” on Jan. 5 — an effort that will land him in front of every state capitol across America throughout 2016.

“Our nation is in trouble — we’ve turned our back on God. In less than one week from now, I will launch the Decision America Tour with the first stop in Des Moines, Iowa, on January 5,” Graham wrote. “I’m going to the capital of every state in 2016 to hold a prayer rally for our country.”

The goal? To motivate Christians to change the culture.

Decision America Tour

Our nation is in trouble—we’ve turned our back on God. In less than one week from now, I will launch the Decision America Tour with the first stop in Des Moines, Iowa, on January 5. I’m going to the capital of every state in 2016 to hold a prayer rally for our country. I want to challenge Christians to pray, to get out and vote for candidates who support biblical values, and to get involved by running for office at all levels—school board, city council, mayor, state representative, and more. This could be the most important election in our nation’s history. America has got some decisions to make—decisions that will affect our children and our grandchildren! “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,” (Psalm 33:12). Will you stand with me in your state capital?

It’s an effort that he’s hoping will encourage Christians across the United States “to pray, to get out and vote for candidates who support biblical values, and to get involved by running for office at all levels — school board, city council, mayor, state representative, and more.”

Speculating that the 2016 electoral cycle could “the most important election in our nation’s history,” he said that it’s essential for Bible-believers to come out en masse to make their voices heard.

“America has got some decisions to make — decisions that will affect our children and our grandchildren!” he said, going on to cite Psalm 33:12, which reads, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”

A current schedule of the tour shows Graham appearing in Tallahassee, Florida, on Jan. 12, Baton Rouge, Lousiana, on Jan. 13, and Concord, New Hampshire on Jan. 19; prayer rallies are currently scheduled through March 31. You can see the full calendar here.

Graham has made headlines of late for stating his views on the Muslim faith and immigration, among other subjects, specifically calling for a halt to Islamic immigration into the U.S.

In a Facebook post written last month, Graham specifically proclaimed that “Islam is not a peaceful religion as George W. Bush told us and as President Barack Obama has said — that is just not true.”

He also defended his immigration stance in an October interview with The Church Boys podcast.

“By letting Muslims come into this country at this time [there’s] the potential for some of these people to turn on this nation for our kindness and our gratitude and commit murder,” Graham said in an interview that was conducted at TheBlaze’s New York City newsroom this fall. “And it’s not just the murder of just one or two, but it could be a large event that could take the lives of many people.”
