While seemingly everyone in Washington, D.C., was hurrying to get off the streets and stock up on groceries and House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) was broadcasting a live feed of winter storm Jonas, President Barack Obama’s former chief strategist David Axelrod had his mind on more serious matters.

“I always thought if you wanted to take over the U.S., you would seed the clouds over D.C. in winter & the gov would be immobilized by snow,” Axelrod tweeted Friday afternoon.

Though the majority of the responses to Axelrod’s tweet were tongue-in-cheek, there were a few questioning why he published the message.

One person tweeted the former Obama operative, “Stop the drugs,” and another said, “Don’t give them any ideas.”

Overall, most people on Twitter seemed to be less worried about an attack on D.C. and more interested in posting clever messages about the impending “blizzard.”
