When the tide rises to unusual levels in the Atlantic Ocean, a curious phenomenon sometimes occurs on the lower tip of Manhattan Island situated on the New York Harbor.

On Wednesday night, the tide rose high enough to reverse the pressure on storm drains, blasting fountains of water through storm drain grates in near beautiful fashion across the city on the surface of its lower lying coastal neighborhoods.
