Rapper Killer Mike has been hitting the campaign trail for Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders, but, following a speech the rapper gave in Atlanta, Georgia, Tuesday, the Sanders camp received some not-so-positive attention from one of his comments.

During his rally speech, Killer Mike addressed recent arguments that female voters should back Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton because she is a woman. In response, the rapper quoted from a conversation he had with teacher and progressive activist Jane Elliott.

“Jane said, ‘Michael, a uterus doesn’t qualify you to be president of the United States. You have to have policy that’s reflective of social justice,’” he recalled.

Killer Mike has received a wave of criticism since delivering those remarks. Andrew Woodhouse, head of pro-Clinton super PAC Correct the Record, tweeted his thoughts, telling the rapper that his comments were “sexist bull****.”

The rapper said he was quoting from a progressive woman who was explaining to him why she was not voting for Clinton, but that argument did not prove successful.

After seeing the backlash online, Killer Mike took to Twitter to further explain himself, even saying he would “gladly” see a woman lead the country, suggesting Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), among others. But, ultimately, he said, “No HRC for me.”
