Republican front-runner Donald Trump has reached out to House Speaker Paul Ryan, the Wisconsin Republican’s office said Wednesday.
“We have heard from the campaign, but the two have not yet spoken,” Brendan Buck, chief communications advisor for Ryan, said in a statement.
“We expect the speaker to be in touch with all the remaining candidates soon to discuss our efforts to build a bold conservative policy agenda for 2017,” Buck added.
News that Trump contacted the speaker’s office comes one day after he issued a threat to him during his Super Tuesday press conference. The billionaire said Ryan would pay a “big price” if he refused to get along with him as president.
Ryan also took a veiled shot at Trump Tuesday when he said any nominee of the Republican Party should be quick to condemn racist groups.
