During a routine campaign event in Illinois, Republican presidential candidate John Kasich received a visit from a not-so-routine guest: Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
Well, not quite. Actually, it was a man impersonating the Vermont senator. And as soon as Kasich saw him, he called him onto the stage.
“Hey Bernie, come on up here a second,” Kasich said, as the crowd laughed.
As soon as the impersonator made his way to the platform with Kasich, he proceeded to compliment the Ohio governor’s supporters, seemingly contrasting his campaign style against the raucous nature of his Republican rival Donald Trump.
“On behalf of the American people, I wanna thank you for bringing a little class to the Republican debates,” the Sanders lookalike said to applause. “Not talking billionaire class, or millionaire class, but regular class. So thank you very much.”
“Well thank you, Bernie,” Kasich replied as he started to laugh. “Thank you very much.”
Moments later, the two men shook hands and the Sanders impersonator pulled an old flip-phone out of the pocket of his suit pants and asked Kasich for a selfie on his silver “Bernie phone.”
“Give him a round of applause,” Kasich concluded.
