Former Republican presidential hopeful Carly Fiorina announced her endorsement of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz for president during an event in Miami Wednesday morning.
“I checked the box for Ted Cruz,” Fiorina told a crowd, referring to her vote in last Tuesday’s Virginia primary. “I’m here to tell you why.”

Fiorina, whose own presidential campaign failed to gain significant traction, said Cruz was the only candidate who stood a chance at defeating GOP front-runner Donald Trump.
“The only way to beat Donald Trump is to beat him at the ballot box,” Fiorina said. “And guess what, the only guy who can beat Donald Trump, who has beaten Donald Trump, is Ted Cruz.”
“Ted Cruz is a fearless fighter for our constitutional rights,” she added, according to the Cruz campaign’s official statement. “He has spent his life protecting Americans’ God-given liberties, and he has always stood by his word.”
Cruz, who’s within 100 delegates of Trump, said he was “blessed” to receive Fiorina’s endorsement and support.
“Carly Fiorina is a strong, principled leader and woman of faith,” Cruz said. “We are blessed to have her support, and together I am confident we will continue to unite conservatives so that every American has the opportunity to achieve the unimaginable.”
Fiorina dropped out of the Republican race after a disappointing seventh-place finish in New Hampshire last month. Her endorsement comes one day after Trump won the primaries in Michigan, Mississippi and Hawaii, while Cruz took home a victory in Idaho.
