Marco Rubio officially suspended his campaign tonight in Florida after losing to Donald Trump in his home state.

“While we are on the right side, this year, we will not be on the winning side,” Rubio said in his speech in his hometown of Miami.

“Today my campaign is suspended,” the Florida Senator said, officially putting an end to his 2016 presidential bid.

“God makes no mistakes, and He has big plans for all of us,” the candidate said.

Rubio’s loss by a considerable margin throws the future of his political career into doubt. Rubio has long been seen as a rising star in the party, but he vowed not to jump back into the race for his Senate seat after launching his bid for the presidency.
