An elderly husband and wife were sitting in their car at night in a hotel parking lot in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, when the trouble began.
“The driver’s door was cracked slightly. While they were in there, what ends up being our suspect came along and pulled open the door and started punching the man in the head. Telling him to get out,” Sioux Falls Police Officer Sam Clemens told KELO-TV of Friday’s incident. “He was trying to take the car.”
But the driver, who hails from Oklahoma, was carrying a concealed handgun — and he pulled the .38-caliber gun from his pocket and shot his attacker twice, KELO said.

“There’s some type of reciprocity so if you’re issued a concealed weapons permit in another state, as long as there’s that agreement between the states, then you’re allowed to carry concealed in a different state,” Clemens added to the station.
Edward Leblanc of Bismark, 34, was found near a McDonald’s and will probably face robbery and simple assault charges after he’s released from the hospital, KEGO reported.
“In this case it certainly worked out well for the victim,” Clemens told the station, adding that he had a few scrapes and bruises. “He was able to defend himself and his property. He wasn’t trying to chase after the guy or do anything other than just try to stop that beating from happening.”
