24 Arrested as ‘Days of Rage’ Protests Come to Boston

Police arrested two dozen protesters for trespassing during two financial demonstrations in downtown Boston Friday.
Organizers of one demonstration gathered outside Bank of America‘s offices to protest the bank’s foreclosure practices in what the Boston Herald reported was an act of civil disobedience with up to 3,000 participants.
“They wanted to be arrested, and we obliged,” Boston police Commissioner Edward F. Davis told the newspaper.

Carolyn Grant, one of those arrested, told the Herald in a telephone interview the arrest was worth the trouble.
“We had to set a stand to let Bank of America know they cannot foreclose on families and put them out on the street,” Grant said, her companions in the holding unit cheering in the background.
Several blocks away, a separate group calling itself “Occupy Boston,“ modeled after the recent ”Occupy Wall Street” movement underway in New York City, held its own demonstration to protest general corporate greed.
“It doesn’t look like the politicians are serving the people any more,” said John, a protestor who would only give his first name to local ABC affiliate WCVB-TV. “They’re serving people with money.”

Protesters held a sit-in demonstration and vowed to stay until their voices were heard.
“We’re talking about government reform. We’re talking about finance reform,” Nadeem Mazen from Occupy Boston said. “And we’re opening up a national dialogue as part of a really big issue that’s on so many people’s minds.”
Bank of America spokesman T.J. Crawford dismissed the demonstration outside the bank as a publicity stunt.
“These individuals choose to ignore the facts and instead focus on increasingly aggressive PR stunts,” he said.

As for me and my household, we have removed all of our accounts from Bank of America – except for one credit card ($0 balance)that I am working on canceling. Each time, I’ve been put on hold for more than 5 minutes. I’m up to my third call on this one.

And yet the last tea party rally I saw as in Washington DC awhile back, and that was not only very peaceful but had ‘zero’ arrests. Yet these protests have had several arrests, people violating police orders to not tresspass in certian areas, to not go behind barricades, and people just resisting arrest when they’ve violated the laws.
In all, these kids don’t even know WHY they are protesting. Just a useful bunch of idiots, pandering to their Union masters.

If you take out a loan you sign papers saying that you will pay and if you don’t pay, the property goes back to the bank who owns it because they are the ones that paid for it. The loan conditions are spelled out for you on the piece of paper that you sign. You need to pay back the money that was loaned to you plus the interest. If you choose not to pay the item off, you forfeit said item, or have liens put against your future wages when it come to education loans.
My house is under water by about a third of what we paid for it. Buying it was a choice that my husband and i made. We are buckling down to get it paid down to what it is worth and look at this as a learning opportunity. Why are kids getting English degree, woman’s studies degrees, afro-studies degrees and spending tens of thousands of dollars on these degrees that lead to no jobs. Universities only have these majors to further indoctrinate our children. As I told my husband, I will only pay for college degrees that lead to job potential. No worthless degrees will be paid for with our hard earned money.
Not sure why people think that the government is the end all be all. Frankly glad that I was raised to take care of myself and not rely on others. It has helped me be the successful person that I am today.

The ironic thing is, the subprime lending practices that caused the housing market crash were because of government regulation! The banks did not make up these rules. People who were blind, or didn’t know any better, or just plain stupid were told they could afford houses when they couldn’t. I may just be a racist hate mongerer; but I can look at my budget and realize I can’t afford to spend 60% of the money we take in on a house. I own my house, raised my kids, put myself through college, took care of my wife, ran my own trucking company, now am running my own gun shop, {oh the horror}, still helping with my grandkids, and never asked for help nor expected someone else to pay my way. I have made mistakes but they are mine and I have lived with the conciquences of those choices for good or bad. Thats how it goes in life. These idiots seem to think I somehow owe them a living and a house and a car and I should fix their lives and make everything ok but thats not how it works. You need to pull yourself up when you fall and start over if thats the way it goes, I have started over 6 times in my life because of things, some were my fault and some were not but even now being in a wheelchair I found a way to get a new start. Deal with the hand you are delt and live life or die but DO NOT TELL ME HOW UNFAIR IT IS. Because I do not want to hear it from you little punks. G.

Posted on October 1, 2011 at 3:08pmI totally agree. My husband and I laughed at the friends and co-workers we had buying huge homes that we knew they couldn’t really afford. Now it’s the banks fault that they are struggling to pay for upside down homes, not theirs.
What angers me are the fools that have had their homes go into foreclosure, as they ruin the value of everyone else’s home in that neighborhood. I know that the foreclosed homes in my neighborhood have sunk my home’s value by a third.
This is what we get when we do not teach our children responsibility for their actions. They grow up to be big two and three year olds.
