‘Scary’ New Trend? 500 Partying Youths Break Into Upscale L.A. House After Hearing Family Is Out of Town

While it’s not unheard of for a student to throw a party while their parents are out of town, a new trend seems to be developing in Los Angeles — throwing party at strangers’ houses, after hearing they’re out of town.
Last weekend, two houses in upscale neighborhoods of LA were broken into, quickly becoming the scene of out of-control parties. Police say the young ones had a “free for all” at the strangers’ houses, committing vandalism, stealing things, and “basically trashing” the place.
Most recently, police in riot gear had to break up a gathering of more than 500 people in Holmby Hills (an upscale area of Los Angeles) after someone found out the family was away, and spread the news over Facebook and Twitter.
Rachel Newman, who lives next door to where the party occurred, reported that people started arriving around 10:30 p.m. “like a swarm of bees.” “They were coming in cars. They were coming in cabs,” she recalled. She called the police, but by the time they arrived in the form of two lone female police officers, there were already more than 200 people in the house.
“They were just so brave,” the Newman said. “These two women were in the middle and all these kids’ iPhones were like torches and they were waving them and singing, ‘… the police,’ ‘… the police.’ I was thinking, ‘I don’t think Steve Jobs would like his iPhone to be used in that way.’”
Soon after, police in riot gear were called to break up the event. When they arrived, the gathering had swelled to more than 500 people. Upon hearing that the police had arrived in a more substantial form, the party-goers “scattered like mice,” even jumping out of second-story windows in an effort to escape.
A number of fights broke out, and several underage youth were cited for drug possession, curfew violation and drug paraphernalia, but the situation was under control in close to an hour.
Many have speculated that the break-ins are inspired by the move “Project X,” which came out last month, where three Californian teenagers try to “make a name” for themselves by throwing a house party, only to find the situation spin out of their control.
The trailer imparts a good idea of what exactly the youth may be trying to recreate (Content Warning: graphic language and behavior):
One of the men whose house was broken into said, “They are out of control, destructive and violent and now life is imitating art in Los Angeles.”
Shana Manlopic remarked that the sight of the teen mob was “Kinda scary actually…I just went and turned on the alarm here while I was here by myself.”

Posted on April 4, 2012 at 2:25pmIt’s really not the kids fault – they have no accountability – I’m not even blaming their Parents. We took God out of our Schools and our youth feel like if nobody catches them they can do what ever they want.
Our youth were never thought that on Judgement day – everyone will be held accountable for their words and deed.
If they think no one is watching or holding them accountable – then what is to stop them from Rapping, Murdering or Stealing!
If it feels good – then let all do it! It is going to get very serious and I don’t see anyway of stopping it!

Posted on April 4, 2012 at 3:30pmSure, blame Hollywood because some dumbf@%k parent never disciplined their child or taught them right from wrong. That sounds like a rational plan. What should have happened is that the neighbor should have acted like a neighbor and called the family to make them aware of the situation and the fact that they might have to repair a few holes in the walls from 9mm and 12 gauge #4 buckshot. That is what happens in my neck of the woods. If I EVER caught someone breaking into my neighbor’s home (even the trash TSA agent who lives next door), I would give them a lethal dose of lead and then call the city’s clean up crew (police) to deal with the mess and handle the paperwork.

How stupid have our children become with all the technology. You would think with the technology we have today, it could be put to better use. I feel social media mania is taking over people’s lives and everything has to be instant or sooner. Even the commercials for fast cell phone data….Get a real life people.

I had a suspicion the movie would inspire this kind of behaviour but I didn‘t anticipate it being take overs of other peoples’ homes. This is uber-liberal Southern California we’re talking about in this instance. Likely the owners voted for Jerry Brown, Baraka Obama (sic) and support OWS..so….you chose to lay with sh#t..then don’t cry when the stinks rubs off on you.

Posted on April 4, 2012 at 10:44pmI‘ll tell you what’s going to happen. The judge will probably fine them a small amount. What should happen is the parents should pay for the damage from their own insurance and pay for the court costs. It won’t happen. The kids know they will be out on the street before the police have their report complete.

Posted on April 22, 2012 at 8:15pmMy first thought after reading the headline was “of course. Why do we expect otherwise from the youth of such dysfunctional parents as those in CA”. I was watching an interview with Henry Wrinkler, a.k.a. “The Fonz” about his children’s book series, and he‘s telling the interviewer that his son’s miserable behavior during a fly fishing trip on a river, that had the guide’s eyes bugging out, was because the guide gave him a fun size Snicker bar, and he didn’t know that his kid is allergic to sugar. I haven’t heard of sugar allergies, just sugar highs, so I looked it up. A sugar allergy is a medical emergency similar to a child getting stung who is allergic to bees. So this kid got a pass for his borish behavior, plus Daddy Wrinkler seemed proud because the kid doing his best impression of the Phantom of the Opera, quote, “Really has a wonderful singing voice and could remember every word.” Just shaking my head at the way these CA types raise their kids. That is if they pay any attention to them at all.

Posted on April 4, 2012 at 1:31pmWhen you have amorale young people who are not employed but have money from their parents, and you add the ability to tell hundreds of people about something all at once via facebook, you get this.
Flash mobs are something that the Science Fiction writers never dreamed of. Look out for new applications of the flash mob phenomenon. These stupid parties are just the beginning.
What happens if there is a food shortage, for example. Would any store be safe if someone organizes a flash mob to go get food?
This is the first time in history that we had so many people who have no morality, who have never darkened the door of a church. Social media in their hands is frightening.
Report Post »Kerstile
Posted on April 4, 2012 at 4:04pmIt has been written about in Sci-Fi. Larry Niven wrote a short piece of semi-non-fiction in the late ‘60’s regarding “flash riots” using teleportation. Now, teleportation is impossible, but his short work details nearly exactly what is happening now via social media. Mr. Niven also describes cell-phones in a few of his ‘60’s pieces. Wonderful visionary writer. His masterwork is “Ringworld”.

Posted on April 4, 2012 at 4:07pmmy guess is the only ones that will be arrested are the ones foolish enough to post pictures of this online. this new mob tactic the kids are using these days to rob stores or in this case destroy someones home needs to be addressed by law enforcement. A pair of officers responding to a disturbance isn’t going to be able to handle the new mobs of bad kids running around. My child is in elementary school (4th grade) and it’s funny but I can already see the kids that are going to grow up and be the bad ones. Not looking good for the future of our nation seeing as these kids are future voters.

Discipline your son, and he will give you rest; he will give delight to your heart. Proverbs 29:17
Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline drives it far from him. Proverbs 22:15
But lately, parents are getting their advise from Hollywood troglodytes, not from God. Now parents just want to be “friends” with their kids… guess we can see how that approach is working out.

Posted on April 4, 2012 at 3:33pmToo true. Alot of people go around misquoting it and saying “spare the rod, spoil the child”, which is a far cry from hating you child. Anyone who will not discipline their own child is setting them up to be an adult in prison or worse.

Posted on April 4, 2012 at 1:45pmThis is what lawlessness looks like.
OWS and the supposed 99% are a lawless mob lead by lawless radicles.
The 99% Spring will usher in more displays of lawlessness for the media to ignore.
The media is a lawless propaganda machine.
The Arab Spring is lawless mob rule and will spawn more lawless Islamic radicles.
The austerity protests in Greece, Spain, France and the rest are a pre-taste of the lawlessness coming to our door soon.
The Travon Martin case is building up to be a study in lawlessness as the rule of law ceases to have any bearing on the case.
The Supreme Court has to rule on Obamacare because a bunch of lawless politicians lawlessly rammed through a lawless un-Constitutional mandate.
Eric Holder and Fast and Furious = lawlessness
Eric Holder and Black Panther intimidation = lawlessness.
Assaulting the Church’s doctrines against abortion and contraception = lawlessness
For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains [will do so] until He is taken out of the way. (2 Thessalonians 2:7)
But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, (2 Timothy 3:1-2)
For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, (2 Timothy 3:6)
