29-Year-Old Obama Campaign Staffer Dies After Collapsing at Chicago HQ

Alex Okrent, seen here in a photo from his Twitter profile, died Friday after collapsing at Obama campaign headquarters.
A 29-year-old member of President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign died Friday after collapsing at campaign headquarters in downtown Chicago, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
Alex Okrent had been with Obama’s team since 2004, working on the president’s 2008 campaign and his 2004 Senate bid before that. During the 2012 election cycle, Okrent worked in the campaign’s paid media department, which handles advertising.
According to the Sun-Times, Chicago paramedics were called to campaign headquarters at 10:36 a.m. after Okrent collapsed. He was given emergency treatment and then taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Obama learned of Okrent’s death while campaigning in Virginia on Friday afternoon and called his family afterward to offer his condolences, USA Today reported. He also spoke with other campaign staffers during a conference call.
“A beloved member of our campaign family, Alex Okrent, passed away today. Our prayers are with his loved ones. We will miss you, Alex,” Obama wrote on his campaign Twitter account.
Obama rival Mitt Romney also offered his condolences, writing on Twitter: “Ann & I were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Alex Okrent. Prayers are with Alex’s loved ones and the entire Obama campaign team.”
Senior Obama adviser David Axelrod responded to Romney’s tweet, “Thank you, governor. Alex was a beloved member of our team. It’s been a very emotional day.”

Posted on July 14, 2012 at 1:36pmWell, it’s official. People are literally dying to support PBO. This is the second one in as many weeks. Let’s look at the bright side. If PBO gets re-elected, then this will not have to suffer the consequences of the Affordable Health Care Act.
There are people that are already affected. For example, there is a young woman in her mid twenties that has suffered her entire life with Cerebral Palsy. This past month, she learned that some of her Medicaid benefits were cut in half, like half the hours of a daily caregiver. The special bed that prevents her from developing severe bed sores was taken away because the sores she has now are not sever enough. Her mother, the primary caregiver, that lives well below the poverty line, was denied food stamps because she somehow makes too much money. A government representative advised her to quit her job, go on welfare and place her child in a government funded 24 hour care facility. There, her child would surely get inadequate attention and probably soon die. None of these actions ever occurred before the AHCA. Another young child with CP was recently denied the special wheelchair he needs that would certainly have been approved a year ago. It appears that “affordable” means that Medicaid will not pay for anything unless it can afford it, which it can’t, because Medicaid funds were gutted by the ACHA. Look around people. The government health care rationing has already begun against the weakest among us.

There have been many young athletes who have dies of congenital hert defects, which went undetected in routine physical exams. He might have had such a heart defect. Only the autopsy will determine that.
While his political views disgust me as an American, he was entitled to not only have them but to express them as he felt.

When we were fight Nazis Germany, I made no distinction between fighting Hitler, the Nazis, or German soldiers. They were all vermin to me. I had no sympathy for the masses of dead Germans on the battlefield. I had no sympathy for their wives and fatherless children. I likewise make no distinction between Obama and anyone who supports or works for him. They are all as Nazi criminals to me, desiring to usurp our constitutional freedoms and enslave us. They are all liars and deceivers to me. I know that after the excising of a metastasized cancer (Obama), there are always many other smaller cancers (democrat voters, campaign workers, union members) throughout the body, beforehand having been suppressed by the main mass, who will rise up to try to dominate and take control of the American people again. Wait, I thought you guys were Christians on here. I thought you followed such lines as, “Don’t repay evil with evil“ and ”turn the other cheek“ and ”love your neighbor as yourself.”
Surely Jesus wouldn‘t be proud of you lowering yourselves to other people’s standards? I thought Christians were supposed to act “like Christ.”
