Three Los Angeles men have been arrested in connection with a brutal freeway beating that was caught on camera — including the man who was attacked.
KNBC-TV reported that Jerry Patterson, identified as the man seen thrown to the ground and kicked in the head, was arrested Thursday morning for failing to show up in court after a previous roadside confrontation.
The California Highway Patrol told KNBC that Patterson, 49, was involved in both the highly-publicized June 12 beating and an earlier incident on May 25. Patterson’s sister told the station the two incidents are not related.
Police also arrested the two men suspected of beating Patterson. David Mendez, 21, and Edras Ramirez, 27, both turned themselves in Wednesday evening. Both men were booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, California Highway Patrol officer Ming Hsu told the Associated Press.
Video of the beating, which went viral, shows two men throwing Patterson to the ground before kicking him in the head.
The day before he was arrested himself, Patterson told KNBC-TV the confrontation started after he accidentally cut off the suspects on the freeway. He said they followed him for a time before stopping in front of his vehicle, when the altercation took place.
“Twenty-20 hindsight, I probably should have called the police,” Patterson told the station. “I’m just not that kind of person. I didn’t think in my wildest dreams it would escalate to where it went to.”
He said he doesn’t remember much of the actual incident, and told KNBC he suffered a concussion.
James Poole told KNBC he was involved with the first incident that took place with Patterson. He said he noticed a man driving recklessly and started to follow him. He said Patterson pulled over, they began arguing and Patterson hit him.
“I wouldn’t let him get back in his car. First I demanded his driver license number and a lot of people started seeing us yelling and screaming at each other. I was looking at his driver license when he hit me,” Poole said.
Ramirez and Mendez were scheduled to be arraigned in court Friday.
Hsu told the AP police still do not know who recorded the beating on camera.

Adding of course the stipulation if ever stopped in the U.S. again its an automatic felon and off to prison for round two, but this time a much longer stay. I suggest hiring Sheriff Joe to start a dedicated prison purchased and built on land in southern mexico and that all reapprehended illegals be sent there for minimum sentences of 30 years with mexico footing te bill for each one.

The San Joaquin valley is full of good hard working people. Mostly conservative, however I have been noticing a creeping in of liberals who want to live in a place where they can enjoy the benefits of conservative ideals, and morals…but they still keep their liberal values and whine and complain about the Christmas trees and bibles in the schools. So far they are out numbered. Oh how I wish we could chop off L.A and San Fran!
The irony is, that most of the freaks who come to L.A or San Fran to, ‘find their fame and fortune’, are from the very same states who like to complain about California. Stop sending us your freaky children!! You raised them, don’t blame us because your children want to run off and join a circus. Most celebrities are not from California originally.

I am constantly getting cut off by the worst drivers on the road in the greater seattle area, prius drivers with obama stickers. nothing worse than those tools. I do have to admit on more than one occasion I have been tempted to give someone a love tap with my big ole truck but then the conscience gets the better of me. you’d think with my big rig these peopple would understand the danger they put themselves in cutting me off and slamming on the brakes when I have three horses I am hauling but alas, what can you expect from west coast liberals.

They drive down the road texting, cut in front of me and slow down, try to play chicken with me, turn without signaling, drive fast and agressively, until they see a police cruiser. Then they slow down and drive like angels. When I was a uniformed police officer, I loved to hang paper on stupid drivers. Occasionally I miss being able to do that, again. Some other truck drivers are embarrassing, too. They act like they own the road. Truck drivers and dog have a lot in common….they live in a box, chase cars and growl at people.

This is Patterson’s second road rage incident. He allegedly threw the first punch in both cases, so he could go to prison.

Because of all the other injuries, the hospital never followed up on the concussion and traumatic brain injury I had. A TBI or any concussion will cause symptoms of anger, depression, anxiety, and rage. I know that a couple of years after my accident, I was going into fits of rage, especially on the highway, against other drivers. I had many speeding tickets at that point and, after an accident, lost my license for 6 months for having 12 points in two years. I stopped several times, on the side of the highway, with other people and asked them what their problem was, the way they were driving. I am lucky that I didn’t get a gun pulled on me. I DID get a knife pulled on me.
Report Post »Probably, the best thing you can do when you make a mistake while driving, is to wave and mouth “I’m sorry” but don’t stop. People will do things in their car that the wouldn’t do walking on the sidewalk by you. They think they are protected by the car.
