Dry Run or Wrong Turn? 3 Mid East Men Try to Enter Calif. Marine Base After Allegedly Making Terror Threats

Was it just a wrong turn, or something more sinister?

Marine base Camp Pendleton — one of the largest military bases in the country — is reportedly on high alert after three Middle Eastern men tried to enter the base last weekend on multiple occasions in multiple vehicles. And while the men initially claimed they didn’t know each other and simply took a wrong turn, new information from a local gas station about “hateful comments” and “terrorist threats” casts doubt on their story:

KGTV explains some of the shocking details:

According to a Be On the Lookout (BOLO) alert issued to high-ranking Camp Pendleton officials, someone reported hearing hateful comments and terrorist threats from three men at a gas station in Oceanside Saturday.

Investigators at Camp Pendleton said the men asked the attendant for directions on how to get to Camp Pendleton before they left the gas station.

According to the alert, shortly after midnight Sunday, a rented silver Toyota Corolla driven by Naeem attempted to enter Camp Pendleton through the main gate. As it was being searched, Petrossian and Avanosian drove up in a black Mercedes, but were told to wait. Instead, they continued past the gate and onto the base. Following a short pursuit, the Mercedes was stopped and searched.

No weapons or contraband were found in the Mercedes, but base security noticed the air bag in the steering wheel of the Mercedes had been pulled out and re-attached with duct tape and had wires hanging free, the alert said.

After questioning, all three men said they were headed to the same destination — Glendale. They were photographed and released. But that wasn’t the end of it. Later Sunday morning Naeem returned and again tried to enter the base, saying he was trying to get to the interstate. He was given a letter of debarment and escorted to the freeway, KGTV reports.

A local security expert who does undercover work and asked only to be called “John,” told KGTV the incident sounds like a dry run.

“Number one: they went on base twice. Their stories didn’t stick, kinda wishy washy. Number two: the vehicle, the condition of the vehicle,” John said. “They could have been probing the security, not just cameras, sensors, individual security from MPs. Three: [they] could have wanted to know what background checks would have produced.”

KGTV says it has learned that since the incident, high-ranking Camp Pendleton officials have notified other bases as well as law enforcement about a possible threat.

    This isn’t looking good… whether connected or not, to the 3 men who were acting strangely enough to bring the DC/OR flight to an emergency landing, there is something going on, and it’s not good. I’m starting to wonder if the threatened May 15 event in the middle east will have other global components to it? And on the May 15 event – I‘m especially suspicious of the threat of the US sending arms to middle east ’rebels,’ running up to this date? And the arms we just dropped in Mexico… this just isn’t looking good…

    The Marines will do there best, however the state and federal governments involved will do nothing to assist the base or the Marines. At least that is what the state and federal government shows us by there attitude and history. I am just judging them by there past action, just like they do to a defendant with a record, judge there past to know what they may do in the future.

      I went to the base in San Diego where only one guard at the gate. He questioned me up one side and the other and refused to let me in. I immediately went to the main gate where three guards were on duty and they waved me right in without stopping. As I’ve said before, only 34-37% of people actually care about doing their job whether it’s police, military, ministry, or Sears. It’s worse that you think. The above post was correct when it said the guards would have been prosecuted if they took action. Obama wants to take away your 2nd amendment but wants to arm the terrorists in Libia. Watch your back.

      +1 – Anyone who doesn’t take advantage of their right to bear arms nowadays is just plain irresponsible. It’s downright ridiculous for people on a military base not to be carrying, given that they are natural targets for terrorist attack (foreign or domestic terrorists) but violence can occur anywhere, and it’s our responsibility to defend *ourselves*. The police have no duty to do so, their duty is to enforce the law.

It’s unfortunate for the people from the Middle East who mean us no harm, but with groups like the Muslim Brotherhood, Al Qadai, etc. the template has been cast.       Grandmaof5, I agree here as well – dry run – sounds like they were testing security reactions, or more likely someone else was watching THEM and SECURITY at the base as one. A decoy is also one of the other options they are doing as well. Consider the story of yesterday evening where a trio of the mid eastern men on a plane were acting weird as well.

      Morning, SNOW and TXPILOT, my first instinct was “shoot first and ask questions later” but I think my tolerance level is dropping to a new low. How dare they!
      Already been under a tornado watch this morning (heavy lightning, winds, rain and hail) and expecting more storms to follow off the Gulf – looks like “night” right now. Hope TX got some rain, haven’t looked lately. Cat house (my husband always wanted to have a “cat house”) is still standing with high winds so I assume cats are fine and dry. Have a great day!

      Grandma, I agree with you. A few years ago, I was on “gate duty” at a military base in Florida. We had a dry run as well. A couple drove up to the gate and said they wanted to go to the base playground so they could bring their kids back to the base to play on it. There were no kids in the car. The woman was driving AND doing all the talking. The man sat in the passenger seat and never said a word. He just kept staring straight ahead, never making eye contact with any of us.

      Of course we did not allow them entrance onto the base. But as they had not entered the base yet, we had no jurisdiction to detain them either. We called civilian authorities and gave them details including the car’s tag number. They could not find the couple, but reported that the car had been reported as stolen a few days before.

      As part of the security detachment, we were required to read daily security briefs prior to going on duty. This type of thing happens a lot…..a LOT more than is reported by the MSM.

      The navy base in Pensacola is suppose to have had several such approaches as well, according to a friend I have in the area. From the way your post reads, then it also sounds like that occasion could have been another dry run to gauge the reaction of the guards.

      PAPPY, we are in Brooksville and it is pitch black right now. Our son is in Land-o-Lakes and tornado warnings have been over his house twice this morning. Nature is amazing.
      BUNNYHAMMER, thank you for your service. We came from Jax – our son played baseball on NAS-Jax and every so often they would go on “lock down”. People don’t appreciate the danger guards are in at the entrance of bases but we have seen it first hand.

      It was a probe…they wanted to see what would happen, and if their identities were solid. IF you do the math, of all the illegals in the country 12 million or so, even if a tiny 1% would mean 120,000 terrorist here already. Couple that with the books and contraband found on our borders recently, I fear there will be more stuff like this happening. I fear more, they will be awakened in the not too distant future to cause the chaos they want.

      It will probably take the killing of more of our troops before the authorities get the message here. As soon as you enter any base without authorization you can be arrested. And if you continue into the base after being told to leave you can be shot. I don’t know about this base but many bases have turned their entry gates over to civil servant rent a cops. In my day the gates were manned by our security forces and heavily armed.

      I have a feeling that the next major terror attack on the US will be a false-flag. They are priming us every day with these “threats” they are supposedly stopping. Propaganda at its finest. It is working… I see too many people cowering in fear.

      The big question is: Is the NWO ready to lock us down yet (martial law) or will that be after the coming war with Iran?

      @ Grandmaof5 – East coast here, just south of Melbourne in Beeeyootiful downtown Palm Bay. The sun was out for 3 minutes this morning.
      Right after the 9/11 attack, Patrick Air Force Base here in Brevard County (right on the Atlantic) went on lock down. It absolutely reeked havoc on A1A. Now they have such high security, the traffic backs up onto A1A every morning with servicemen & women as well as employees going in. It’s a good place to avoid in the mornings. Their security checks take around 5 to 7 minutes per vehicle with no exceptions, as I’m told by a friend that works there. I feel better safe than sorry….

      PAPPY, daughter and family live in North Melbourne. They are bummed as it is spring break for kids and just bought a boat they can’t use yet. Son-in-law works for Harris. We are over there about once a month for one kid thing or another. Miss the east coast!

      I agree that it was probably a dry run or intelligence probe, but I do not agree with deporting them. They should be sent to Guantanamo until their stories are confirmed. If truly innocent, turn them loose. If the stories are proved other than true, keep them at Guantanamo.

      This base is guarded by Marines (I have done a lot of work on that base and others) if someone is able to get through that gate it is another five miles until you actually make contact with another security team and if they know your coming =you do the math !!!!

      Yep, they need to be tattooed, microchipped and branded before they are tossed out to sea. I cannot understand why a Marine base has such open access after what happened at Ft Dix, and Ft Hood.
      All military instillations need to beef up their security!! Or is Big Sis preventing that?

      I‘m a USMC veteran of the 1950’s & 1960′s era and was stationed at Camp Pendleton on several ocasions. I guess the Marines, like everybody else these days have to be politically correct and cautious about their actions. I’m not familiar with the Order of the Day procedures at posts, but in my day the guys who drove by without stoping at the guard shack then had to be chased down wouldn’t present any further security problem since they would be shot dead. The Marines responsible for the security of the base should have standing orders to shoot to kill any intruders. They are being put into harms way unnecessarily if restricted from applying lethal force at their discretion. During my three tours of duty in Vietnam a Marine’s standing orders where, ” Don’t hesitate to investigate. If in doubt,
      shoot to kill “. Political correctness wasn‘t a Marine’s concern. Staying alive was the principal motivation for immediate action. Semper Fi !
