3 SEIU Chapters Get Obamacare Waivers

Three local Service Employees International Union (SEIU) chapters have received temporary Obamacare wavers, which will allow them to cap the amount of health insurance money they spend on an employee in a given year below the federal spending limit, CNS News reports. One of the chapters is located in President Obama’s hometown of Chicago.

CNS says the waivers will specifically allow the unions to bypass the gradually increasing spending caps the government instituted on its way to abolishing caps altogether in 2014. Current regulations say spending limits can be no less than $750,000 for 2011, no less than $1.25 million in 2012, and no less than $2 million in 2013.

According to research compiled by CNS, the Department of Health and Human Services granted a waiver to Local 25 SEIU in Chicago with 31,000 enrollees on Oct. 1, 2010; to Local 1199 SEIU Greater New York Benefit Fund with 4,544 enrollees on Oct. 10, 2010; and to the SEIU Local 1 Cleveland Welfare Fund with 520 enrollees on Nov. 15, 2010.

As an example, SEIU Local 1199’s health plan put a $50,000 cap on medical expenses for its New Jersey nursing home workers, which is $700,000 under the 2011 limit. When contacted by CNS, the local union’s spokeswoman Leah Gonzalez said fewer than 1 percent of members have ever reached that cap, and that any members who did received more help.

222 groups have received Obamacare waivers thus far, with 45 of them being labor organizations. Abolishing annual and lifetime spending limits in relation to health insurance spending was a central tenant of the new health care law when the President first presented it to America.

CNS reports the SEIU donated $27.8 million to Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign.

Everyone needs to apply for exemptions if the unions can have them. Isn’t it unconstitutional? Shouldn’t this be challenged? Ridiculous for some Americans to have exemptions and others not. This is no “fair” legislation. Raise almighty hell, America! And most of all, remember this in 2012!

It is very telling that everyone who came forward in support of Obamas’ health care plan, now get’s waivers. Every one of them thus far. I pray that this health care plan does not receive funding. What a disaster. It further amazes me that every Democrat, thus far, when defending this HC Bill, always mentions first, that “This plan allows you to keep your children on insurance until age 28 or 29 or 26. They can’t tell the truth. Is that the best they have in defending this plan? Let me just say that they are not “small children” at this age. Further, my children who are GROWN get’s insurance coverage from college cheaper than I could ever provide it. Last, if they till want me to take care of them at this age, I have done something wrong. For the most part, they are healthy at this age and they are fully grown as well. Yes, I am aware that there are people at this age who have disabilities and problems and for that there has always been help available. Medicare, Medicaid and SS disability. They do receive that and always have.
Then they (Dems) claim that no person can be turned down. If you are turned down, you can and should apply for medicaid. That‘s what it’s for and we pay dearly for it so you all can have it.
It is not fair that 85 to 90% of the American people are sacrificed for 15%, many of who qualify for medicaid or other assistance. So what is it all about then? Control. Total control over your banking, finances, medications, doctors and your very life. One congresswoman even said those exact words on c-span. She said, and I quote., “Your very lives are in our hands.” That is NOT their job or responsibility. I hope someone wakes up and realizes what is really going on.

It could definitely back fire because they‘ll be painted as supporting Obamacare rather than protecting us from it but I think the outrage of what the bill actually does to America will be clear if they didn’t allow any waivers. Good republicans will be hurt from it too but if the democrats who thought it was a good idea feels the pain, maybe it’ll change their minds in the long run.

When it comes to this newest of waivers being given or bought (depending on ones own outlook on the matter), it poses the question of WHERE the money came from. Was it from domestic funds raised? Did any of it come from international donations? And if so, from what countries and groups?

Soros commented once that he did not need to win over the voters in any election, just own those who have the ability to certify the votes in those elections.

This is once again another move on the progressives part for control and for power.

Where does the average American fall into on these waivers? Once again, we have created a class system through the legislative process. Congress should be very proud of this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQ1NJaCtIkM

What the unions endorsed was “single payer”. A British style NHS (third largest employer on earth, all unionized permanent nanny-state voters). Current ObamaScare, if it works as planned, will take a while to completely bankrupt the medical private sector (and badly damage the rest of the private sector) and then morph into socialized medicine. The unions want to be insulated from the bankruptcy phase of the plan, that’s all. Who can blame them? It’ll be really, really tough for all involved. People will likely die from lack of medical care as these companies fold. The 111th congress made sure to get their waiver up front.
