572-LB ‘Heart Attack Grill’ Spokesman Dies

The 29-year-old, 572 lb spokesman for a prominent, caloric-ridden restaurant in Chandler, Arizona has died. While it‘s unknown at this point if the man’s death was at all related to his obesity, the death of Blair River is opening up the restaurant to criticism:

“We are absolutely guilty for glorifying obesity, it’s what we do, but if you stop and think about why we glorify obesity and come into the Heart Attack Grill diet center I think you’ll get it,” Jon Basso, the restaurant’s owner, told KSAZ-TV.

The restaurant does boast it’s own “diet” program in a web ad that features River. It‘s safe to say it’s the opposite of Glenn Beck’s current “sticks and weeds” diet (WARNING: Does contain mention of the male anatomy):

As you may have noticed, part of the restaurant‘s marketing involves servers dressed as nurses and the owner wearing a doctor’s lab coat.

According to the news station, restaurant “offers meals in excess of 8,000 calories. They fry their fries in pig lard and they’re not shy about it. A sign in front of the building reads, ‘Caution. This establishment is bad for your health.’”

Since when did we decide longevity surpasses quality on the stage of life. While my prayers go out to his family as 29 is a very young death. My only question would be did he enjoy his 29 years because that‘s what’s really important. And while big bother(I mean brother) and the nanny state may see fit to use his death as a way to bring more people to their belief in government control I would say it’s far better to live a shorter life and enjoy the foods that makes life great. Than to live to a 110 eating tofu, bean paste, and vegetables. You only get one chance at living so you should try to sample much as possible.

At my age, I could make two dinners and two breakfasts out of that much food. Maybe in my younger years. There used to be a place near here that served a one pound hamburger with your choice of fried seafood stacked on top. Even years ago, that was about my limit. Prayers to the big guy.

This “Arizona pit stop” would actually be the kind of publicized local eatery visit the president and first lady have done in the past in other states. They know how to limit their intake, and use their own money to have personal trainers flown in to keep them trim.

So what? He died happy, he lived doing what he loved, why must we all look like an Abercrombie & Freak model? Why must all women be sized-2? Why do we embrace “The Auschwitz Look”? Even the military is getting into the act by kicking out perfectly good soldiers just because they fail some BMI test, I‘m talking about strong soldiers who can run as fast as anyone but don’t look like a thin GI Joe.

Don‘t listen to the HMO’s and the government talk about the “cost” of obesity. What cost? When was the last time your doctor told you that you had to pay $10 more because he had a fat patient? Fat people are the majority, it’s time for them to stop apologizing for not living at the gym.

The cost of obesity is Type II diabetes – it is currently in epidemic form in the US and it is a life long disease that the individual will have to control and spend money on for the rest of their life. It affects every organ function and can lead to blindness, heart problems, amputation from gangrene in the foot, or legs. It is truly a horrible disease and everyone who is overweight is at risk of developing this disease.

Guess I’m about to ruin your day……………. I have NO SYMPATHY whatsoever for this man who was the size of a HALFLINGER PONY or a yearling ELEPHANT. Same for the CHRONIC obese who, as a consequence, lose their kidney function and/or have their foot AMPUTATED. Not unlike someone who chooses to smoke and, as a consequence, gets lung or throat cancer, or pulls a BOTTLE OF OXYGEN around on a leash–all because of the poor CHOICE to smoke. Stupid health habits lead to stupid deaths. They took the gamble of staring death in the face … and lost the bet.

In spite of the obvious tragedy here, we can also see some of the beauty in Captialism. This man, who by all accounts was obese long before becoming associated with the Heart Attack Grill, managed to find a niche, just as the Grill did. The restaurant wouldn‘t still be standing if people didn’t enjoy eating there.

That said, prayers and condolences to his family. Regardless of weight, 29 is far too young.

Very sad. I watch “Biggest Loser” (I know, I know, but it is an interesting study in human behavior) and there is a young husband, father of 2 that weighed over 600lbs before he had his “moment”. It is inspiring to watch him (altho he has been voted off at this point) and the others taking control of their lives and learning to make better choices. They are losing their “sheeple” profile.

Its called personal responsibility. And even the Bible tells us everything in moderation. We are all joking about the government connection, but this is NEWS WORTHY because of all the Obama government threats to the food industry. Look at schools and institutions being threatened if they dont change their menu’s. Restuarants changing their oil, fries, sale, etc afraid of some kind of government intervention.
