7.5 Earthquake Hits Indonesia

From MSNBC:

A major earthquake hit off the coast of western Sumatra, Indonesia, on Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The preliminary magnitude was put at 7.5 by the USGS.

It said the quake, which hit at around 10:42 a.m. ET (9:42 p.m. local time) was located 150 miles west of Bengkulu, Sumatra, near the Mentawi islands off Sumatra.

The USGS said the epicenter of the temblor was 8.8 miles deep.

A tsunami warning was issued by the Indonesian earthquake monitoring agency, which measured the quake at 7.2.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said historical data suggested any wave it created would not be destructive.

I will pray for the injured and dispossessed. BTW…. I wonder who the ONLY country in the world is that can really provide relief? Hmmmm……The Liberal military will send a rowboat with WWII era cots and K rations. The Conservative military will air-lift tons of medicine, food, shelters and
supplies if needed, and a hospital ship….maybe part of a Battle Group supply convoy. And the
Coast Guard…..hmmm what else???? If the Chinese will loan us any more money, maybe
financial aid????? The choice is clear on Nov 2nd.

I pray for the people of Indonesia. They may be primarily Moslems, but they were still created by God.

I have been keeping track of the earthquakes in the world in 2010. The Bible says that in the last days there will be “earthquakes in various places”. We are equal to the average number of magnitude 8 earthquakes for the year, have passed the number of mag 7 earthquakes for the year, are 4 earthquakes away from passing the mag 6 average, and have passed the mag 5 average quakes for the year — with 2 months to go in the year. IMO, these earthquakes are a sign that we’re in the end. It’s sad that people are getting hurt in the process. We’ve seen 8 times the average number of deaths this year from earthquakes.

One of the things we tend to forget is that earthquakes don’t operate on a human timetable. There is a good chance that this is but another aftershock of a major earthquake decades or centuries in the past. Hope nobody is hurt but you never know.

Another tsunami warning. Why is it when there‘s a real tsunami there’s no warning. When there isn’t a tsunami the whole world hears about the warning?

I believe it was only recently that a tsunami warning system is active in this region of the world, now I may be confusing it with the Indian Ocean area instead. I understand that for most Pacific areas with the Tsunami system the warnings are suppose to be triggered automatically if the quake is of an intensity and duration that one may occur.

Any clarity on the subject would be appreciated, as I have had three different explinations given to me and am just not sure how it fully works in the region.

May the God of us all help them at this time, and strenghten them through the trials that lay ahead unto a better day.

Your either really stupid or at the very least misinformed. If you could see past your own BIGOTRY, maybe you would understand this. I know I gave money, DID YOU?

Hopefully the suffering and loss of life will be at a minimum as Indonesia is such a densely populated country this could be devastating. Hey ObamaWorshiper your statement could not be further from the truth, Americans are the first to cut a check for tragedies like this and are the most generous people on Earth. I will say one thing though it is liberals and Democrats who may think like you do if there were a tragedy in a Red State, but don’t make the mistake of projecting your warped way of thinking and heartless attitude on conservatives. Btw it is Conservatives who are much more charitable and generous in giving and helping out during these types of crisis.

      @OBAMAWORSHIOER

You are dead wrong, I am sorry those people have had the quake and the destruction that may have been wrought. If I remember my geography correctly is there not the remains of the old volcano Krakatoa – and the island volcano that has arisen in its place? I hope this does not mean a volcano or two are getting ready to cut loose again.

Also Obamaworshioer, stop with the insults and threats you made yesterday to those of us who care about our country. The threats reveal your true ideals and being.

I honestly believe Obamaworshioer must be working for the Progressives and their narrow focused ideals of destroying everything; when he calls people tyrants and facists, and advocates our deaths, then that is crossing a line of no return in my book.

Let him speak his mind though, America is being taken back by her people, not the Progressives, and may freedom ring loud and clear through the land.

That is very very sad if you worship Obama or any man. No peace. No happiness or joy. A truly miserable person that is always let down because of confidence in man. Never put confidence in man. What has he done for you? Just tell me. What has he done for you that you love him so much? Has he healed you? Has he caused events to happen in your life that are victorious and bring joy? Has he helped set you free from vices? What are you getting out of it?

Sir or Madam, I truly feel sorry for you. You apparently don’t know that all men were made in the image of GOD. Only by human devices have we seperated ourselves into different religions and don’t all worship the one and only true GOD. We are , however tied together by a common bond, our humanity. What happens in any country, whether earthquake, flood, tropical storm or any other natural diasater which causes human suffering affects every living person on earth. The loss of life anywhere and the injuries suffered should become the concern of every human being on earth.

Americans realize this more than any other country. That is why Americans are the most generous and giving people on this planet. I have seen people on food stamps giving cans of food to help people halfway around the world who have suffered disaster. No other country has done so much for so few.

I am going to earnestly pray for you and hope that you come to the realization of how far wrong your comment was. To say what you said is a falsehood of the first degree. Yes, there are many issues with those Moslems who would use terror and subterfuge to kill others. They, however don’t reflect the majority of moslem peoples. Extremeists, no matter which religion, are just that, extremeists.
