For her latest birthday, Poppy Burge received a voucher for breast implants. This Christmas, she got a voucher for liposuction in her stocking.
Why vouchers? Because Poppy is only 7 years old.
According to the Daily Mail, Poppy’s mother, 51-year-old Sarah — who is referred to as “surgery obsessed” is known as the Human Barbie — says that the surgical enhancement vouchers are “investing in her future.” The Daily Mail has more on Sarah’s thoughts on the controversial gifts:
“I put the voucher in her stocking – there’s nothing wrong with that,” she said.
“She asks for surgery all the time. She wants to look good and lipo is one of those procedures that will always come in handy.”
Dr. Manny Alvarez writes on the health implications of surgery obsession in this case for Fox News, stating that Sarah’s addiction for plastic surgery could be passed onto her daughter:
As with most addictions, excessive reconstructive surgery comes with serious physical risks like wound breakdown, nerve damage, abnormal scar formation and chronic pain. I believe that plastic surgery should only be considered on patients that truly need it and have had an informed conversation with their physician, who should be fully accredited to receive these procedures.
[...]
I don’t know if Burge is looking for publicity, but she needs to understand that what she is doing could permanently damage her child. Not only because this child could become another plastic surgery addict like her mother, but because one day, as an adult, she might go online and see exactly what her mother was doing to her at the age of seven and realize that her life and her future were not being protected.
Alvarez uses this story as an example to also draw attention to body image issues at increasingly younger ages. Last week, we reported that children as young as 3 years old have been seen for eating disorders in one area of the U.K.

Wait I take that back, there is a crime….it’s called infringing on another s freedom because you disagree with how they handle it.
Holy crap, VAPOR TRAIL got a voucher for his 7 year old to take possession of a fully automatic machine gun……OMG take that child away…he is insane and an unfit father…..I disagree with him……the state must step in…..

Yes, pole dance. Yes, her 7-yr-old daughter. The reason being, she states, is because she anticipates her daughters to take over her “swingers” club when they are older. Yes, you heard that right.

Posted on January 3, 2012 at 6:55pmI have friends that admit they are addicted to tattoos. Have destroyed their bodies, destroyed any hope at ever making a good living, and will look like rotten prunes by the time they are 60. Yet when people point out they have a serious problem, they curse them out, call them names, demand they stop judging them, demand they accept them as normal. Then they make fun of their problem, by posting their status as in treatment when they are getting even more ink applied to their bodies. There should be laws protecting people with these addictions. It would be real simple to require tattoo mutilators to purchase insurance to remove the tattoos in the future when the person grows up and figures out what a horrible mistake their rebellion of youth really was. Make that $60 tattoo that one day soon tanks to Obama Care will cost tax payers thousands of dollars to remove cost thousands of dollars in the first place, and 99% of them will never get them in the first place. You could also do something simple as an additive to the ink that made it break down when exposed to some special wave length of light, or a chemical not normally in the blood that could be given to “clean the canvas”.

Posted on January 3, 2012 at 7:30pmWow! People like you scare me more than my government. Your views are just as dangerous.
They wish to dictate how I live my life, and take away my personal ability to make choices….seems you feel the same.
Wow, really laws to protect people from choice? I think we already have an excess of that.
Force the artist to have insurance for when I/other may or not change their mind? Really?
Additive to the ink? Really?
Jeez, first tat I got was in the Army, all my mates got one don’t regret it…..second tat I got was a redo of a tat my older brother had to memorialize him after his death… he got his in Nam….nope I don’t regret it.
Third tat honored my marriage with my wife (her Idea) don’t regret that one either.
Fourth tat, memorializes her departure from my life and this world…..don’t regret it.
Fifth tat…..a personal reminder in code to myself, to live live with honor, courage, and integrity while accepting that fate is not of my control….again I don’t regret it.
A few more as well that I don’t regret.
Next tat I get might just be to spite those such as yourself that judge others and fail to understand what freedom is….hint a key component is free choice to do what you want so long as it doesn’t harm another.
I own me…You don’t, I can and will do as I wish with my body….that is what freedom is about.
Don’t judge unless ye be willing to be judged.
Oh, and after the Army I became an HVAC tech, 28 years later never once has my ink he

Posted on January 3, 2012 at 8:15pmYour freedom ends where mine begins, at least half those I know with tattoos are on public assistance, and will never get off it due to their inability to hold down a job for something other than bar back, strip club bouncer, or truck driver. Yes, you are going to make your living mutilating the bodies of mentally ill people, you should need insurance. Make the people getting the tattoos pay for insurance to remove them when they get over it, or sign a waiver to never get of public assistance. I’M DAMN TIRED OF PAYING FOR OTHERS STUPID DECISIONS. You want freedom it has a cost. I have a friend that calls himself an artist, even though his art looks like crap I doodled in notebooks in junior high. He makes his living going to bars that 18-21 year olds frequent, looks for loaners, people with low self esteem, and offers to give them discount tattoos while they are drunk.
Of course I think you should have the freedom to smoke, but if you choose to and get lung cancer, I think you should have he freedom to die, unless you have the money to pay for your own treatment. No public money should be spent for your choice, and no insurance company should have to pay for your treatment unless you bought a cancer policy with them knowing you were a smoker.

Posted on January 3, 2012 at 9:28pmSwampy your angry….good I’m angry too. But your angry for all the wrong reasons.
First let me tell you that MY freedoms do NOT end where YOURS begin….I paid my dues many times over!
See I own ME..NOT YOU…NOT the government…..I OWN ME. I embrace freedom, I want freedom, I choose freedom, I took an oath to defend freedom…not just for me but for all.
Your argument is exactly what I appose, you would put your will over my own! Your argument is no different than a gun grabbers argument, can’t have that gun “you’ll just shoot your eye out”
Can’t control your own body, “you’ll regret it later”. Jeez you sound like my congress critter.
I am as equally tired of paying for others….of course I mean welfare recipients, those that don’t make their own dissensions they have them made by politicians for them and reap the rewards of not being free, and responsible for their own lives and actions.
So far I don’t believe I have had to pay for someone getting a tat removed because they regretted it.
So Your angry at personal choice, which is a foundational principal of freedom….?? You’re right freedom does have a cost…..It requires a great deal of responsibility…..
That responsibility can either be charged to an individual, or to a body of other to choose for them…personally I’ll take charge of myself…What would you choose?
Oh and Swampy, your friend that you so knock for what he does….its your choice to remain friends.

By your determination based on your belief that it’s child abuse you show a lack of understanding what freedom is, and that is to make your own choices, not be told what you can and can’t do by an AUTHORITY figure……whatever wake up or except your fate…..the CHOICE is yours.

Posted on January 4, 2012 at 9:40am@VAPOR, the fact that the 7 year old is asking for surgery shows that there is psychological abuse going on. No one (except for you) thinks the child is having surgery now. That is not the issue. The issue is that her mother has created an environment where this little girl already feels like she is not good enough and needs surgery to be acceptable. I am very concerned for this little girl. To be honest, I don’t think this mother is intentionally abusing her daughter. I think she is just so messed up that she is passing on her own sickness to her daughter.
