Really?
Really????
If the history of these type of CBO cost projections, particularly when concerning these types of entitlement/social programs, is any indicator, that 800,000 is more like 8,000,000 or more. Likely much more.
I may have been born at night, but it wasn’t LAST night!

Plus, remember that Obama considers the US Constitution full of negative laws.

Posted on February 10, 2011 at 4:49pmYou are absolutely correct! Besides ObamaCare was never about improving the health care system in this country. It is and always has been about socialism and a government take over the entire health care industry. Once they have the controls on your health care—full blown Marxism is non-stoppable! How’s that “hope & change” working for you now? Was there ever another president who pulled the wool over so many people’s eyes and smoozed his way into the WH so he could stick to us? Posted on February 10, 2011 at 4:32pmI didn’t hear in the video how the two are connected. I understand that 800,000 jobs will be lost, but how is that connected to Obamacare? 800k is based on 0.5% of total workforce estimated at 160M, which would mean TOTAL work force, not only those working in healthcare industry. I don’t like the law, but I think we should be cautious not to give the liberal MSM any unnecessary talking points.

Posted on February 10, 2011 at 10:25pmWe eliminate a job this year when our insurance went up 47% because of the mandates and the uncertainity of the monstrosity. So that would be 800,001.
I know we could have just borrowed 1.5 trillion to maintain our budget. Oh yea I forgot we can’t print money like govt.
I would like to know who is paying the 40,000 tsa workers. Maybe they will be lost by then so it would be eliminating non-essential jobs. I did get a clean review of my prostate the last time through. Wasn’t sure how he was checking since he had a hand on each shoulder.

Posted on February 10, 2011 at 4:45pmWhat ****** me off is why the CBO did not come clean last year! I understand they only work the numbers given to them…blah, blah, blah…But they KNEW what the game was, their bubble is not that small or airtight. Why could they not have came out and said, “Listen, the numbers we were given say this but we went further and really examined how this bill will effect us and this is the REAL score…”
I blame the CBO as much as I blame the dems. The blood is on their hands too.

Posted on February 10, 2011 at 4:53pmI wonder if the lib talking heads are going to be out touting the “non partisan CBO” numbers now?
Report Post »laughing_dingo
Posted on February 10, 2011 at 4:59pmThis is a distortion of what the CBO said.
This is what is in the actual CBO report–
“The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates that the legislation, on net, will reduce the amount of labor used in the economy by a small amount—roughly half a percent—primarily by reducing the amount of labor that workers choose to supply. That net effect reflects changes in incentives in the labor market that operate in both directions: Some provisions of the legislation will discourage people from working more hours or entering the workforce, and other provisions will encourage them to work more. Moreover, many people will be unaffected by those provisions and will face the same incentives regarding work as they do under current law.”
Basically, the CBO is saying that some people right now are working mostly to keep their health insurance. Once they have other options — to enroll in Medicaid, or to qualify for tax breaks to buy insurance from a health exchange — they might choose to work less. The CBO describes this as a “small segment” of the population. And, because the CBO is describing REDUCED HOURS rather than lost jobs, it never uses the 650,000 number that the Republican document cites. The Republican extrapolated that number from the CBO’s estimate of one-half percent of the labor supply.
Finally, a person who voluntarily chooses to work less is not having their job “killed” by federal legislation.

Posted on February 10, 2011 at 4:59pmThis is why they were in such a hurry to pass it and did so without even stopping to read the bill. Now we are finding out what they really did and what they intended. I bet we will be just as surprised with other stuff yet to come out.

Posted on February 10, 2011 at 5:02pmSo a event that has been known of for the last year is now confirmed by the CBO as a ‘fact’ and the world is suppose to be shocked to the core by the suddeness of this announcement?
Then again I do keep forgetting the main cause of the administrations cluelessness; they constantly underestimate the true level of intelligence and rationality of the American people.
Report Post »jzs
Posted on February 10, 2011 at 5:06pmTypical Blaze crap. The CBO guy DID NOT say universal health care would “kill jobs.” That is nonsence. What he said was that if people can get reasonably price health insurance, some will reduce their working hours below the point where they would otherwise lose insurance from their employer. And people who are working only to get insurance, might quit.
The jobs are still there. Not one job is lost. Some people would work less or quit altogether.
Snowleopard {gallery of cat folks}
Posted on February 10, 2011 at 5:14pmOne thing still sticks out was Pelosi saying we need to “pass the bill to see what is in the bill.” Or along these lines, it may have been to find out what is in the bill.
This struck me at the time as a ‘canned bill’ or one already written and just waiting for the right set of time and ability to ramrod it all the way through.
Now the progressives and their news spin machineery are always set on the same play of the book, and follow a ‘canned newscast’ set up for different situations, all that is needed is a targets name and a situation to blame them for.
In the ministry there are services already made up called ‘canned sermons’ in some denominations; and the format used now by the CBO and the administration is along the same lines.

Well, think about this.If it was only ONE job and that one job was YOURS, would you still be in favor of Obamacare ? Only a very few knew the details hidden in the pages of the Obmacare Bill passed by the Congress and Senate. Now, we are “surprised” almost daily by the negative revelations. Nancy Pelosi hoodwinked a lot of politicians and common Americans with her statement ” JDon’t need to rread it, just pass the bill, we won‘t know what’s in it until we pass it “. Well, just give me one of your endorsed blank checks, you won‘t know how much I’m going to make it for, until I cash it and spend the money”. That’s about the same thing, is it not ? We can’t conitnue to cry over spilled milk but we can make another trip to the barn.
