‘A Little Schizo?’: Al Sharpton to Rick Santorum About His Take on Federal Programs

Sharpton Santorum MSNBC

MSNBC

GOP presidential hopeful Rick Santorum faced off against Rev. Al Sharpton on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Thursday, with Sharpton asking the former Pennsylvania senator if it’s “a little schizo” that he’s running for president while not believing in federal programs.

Sharpton made the comment as Santorum was talking about his ideas for the U.S. education system, saying there doesn’t need to be a federal education program.

“This is the kind of a dramatic change that we need in this country, and presidents can lead on that,” Santorum said. “I’m not saying we need a federal system of education. In fact, just the opposite. I’m not saying we need federal programs necessarily to accomplish marriage — but we need a president who can talk about those things.”

After trying to interject, Sharpton asked, “When you get through talking, how do you do it if the federal government is not going to do it? And I might remind you, you’re running to be the head of the federal government. So how are you against something that you’re running to be in charge of? Isn’t that a little schizo?”

“Yeah, that’s the difference between you and me, Al,” Santorum said.

“Yeah, there’s a lot of differences but go ahead,” Sharpton responded.

Sharpton had kicked off the exchange by accusing Santorum of saying “despicable and ugly things” about President Barack Obama.

“I could argue with you about some of your ugly statements on the president and all of that, but that would probably help you in the primary if you and I got into an argument this morning,” he said.

“Go ahead, Al. Give it to me, Al,” Santorum replied, laughing.

“Well, you said some despicable and ugly things, but we‘ll do that on ’Politics Nation’ one night, don’t let me help you win the caucus,” Sharpton said, referring to his own MSNBC show.

As the pair’s brief debate wrapped up, Sharpton said, “I didn’t even tell him how I really feel about him.”

“Remember, you’re a reverend, Reverend,” fellow panelist and former RNC Chairman Michael Steele said.

Maybe someone should tell Mr. Sharpton about how much his heros the dems think of his “people”? How is that BOE working out when, supposedly, the race can’t figure out to vote dem UNLESS (D) is next to their name? Is that how our “Republican Election system” is supposed to work? Seems more like Democracy to me and we all know America Ain’t that right?

“A U.S. District Court judge has rejected a challenge to Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 — filled when the Department of Justice barred the city of Kinston, N.C. from holding nonpartisan elections — reasoning that lack of access to party affiliation would discriminate against minority voters who otherwise wouldn’t know how to find Democratic candidates on a ballot.

Rick Santorum will never get my vote. He is not honest and supports Israel’s enemies. Rick is also a big spender. Big on spending and big on war and world government-the definition of a progressive.

If we are to bless Israel to be blessed and cursed if we curse Israel than Rick aiding Israel’s enemies would put us on the curse side.

Rick is for aid to Muslim countries who hate Israel.
Rick is for selling weapons to Muslim Nation who hate Israel
Rick is for intervening and defending Muslim Nations who hate Israel.

Rick is not being honest when he says he is pro-Israel because Rick is for helping Israel’s enemies.

Spending wise simply look at his record in office. He always voted for spending bills.

Anyone standing for Israel could never vote for Rick Santorum.
Anyone standing for Taxed Enough Already could never vote for Rick.

My fellow Christians, be honest about this. You aren’t standing with Israel if you are helping her enemies. Plan and simple.

Sometimes, like right now, it’s hard to determine who I feel sorry for in a situation. Do I feel sorry for Rick for being in the good reverend’s very presence, or do I feel sorry for Rev. Al for being such a cluelessly consistent jack@$$? Okay, I feel sorry for Santorum because he had to suffer the indignation. All good now.

@Military Nurse. You’re not a racist. The racists are the ones who perpetuate the double standard. The guy is, himself, a racist. He has done horrible racist things in the past and has blood on his hand. If he weren’t black, his past racist actions would have made him a pariah. And he is a buffoon. If he weren’t black, he would be laughed off any set and never given a microphone. But, because he is black, people pretend he has something worthwhile to say.

MAD_HATTER_, you know what, he doesn’t need an audience, none of them do. If they have the ballots marked clearly so their voters will know who the dems are (maybe color coded?) , they bus them to the polls, they register them, they allow illeagals to vote, they fight against ID’s, and every thing else they come up with what does it matter? Didn‘t Obama state that his followers more than likely don’t watch news related programs? Their brainwashed robots will do as they are told, to make sure that they get their government freebies. They are making sure they get the votes needed. Sharpton is spewing out of his – - -, and no one with any intelligence that takes the time to actually pay attention to what is at stake believes his lies. However, because he is considered a leader in his community he does have control over the goverment assisted voters that he makes promises to. All he has to say is vote, we will provide transportation to make sure you get what is owed to you. As far as any of them keeping up with the candidates or what they stand for, it does not matter to them , they do not have to make the effort. MSN is a joke and has few viewers. The rappers and the successful entertainers have the more influence than old Al does.

Rick Santorum Impressive??? UMMM, the only thing that was impressed upon me is that, if you listen to what Santorum said, He was devising a controlling social engineering policy!! AND an agressive war-mongering foriegn policy!! WAKE UP!! PEOPLE!! This guy is a bigger joke than Mitt Romney. He is telling you exactly what he would want to do, TELL YOU HOW TO LIVE YOUR LIFE!! The whole fight around this election is to get BIG GOV”T OUT OF OUR LIVES! Rick we don’t need your approval and we do not want big government mandating to us how we should live, eat, spend or anything else. DEMAND A RETURN TO THE CONSTITUTIONAL LIMITS ON GOV’T.
